Hey guys, I have been wanting a crash cage for my xb12, and have seen talk on the forum of the xtreembikeworks model seen here: http://www.xtreembikeworks.com/Buell-XB12-Crash-Cage_p_164.html

I like this design because it looks like it doesn't clamp on the engine, but on the frame near the back. However, I don't really have 400 bucks to drop on a cage from them. However, I do have a buddy that works at a machine shop. He has agreed to help me fabricate a crash cage for my xb12.

I am curious how the xtreembikeworks fits together. If anyone has one on their bike, could they take a few quick pictures of how the cage clamps on the frame, and how it is held together up front? I don't need measurements or anything, I'm not planning on copying their product, but just want to see how it works to get a few ideas flowing. Any suggestions are welcome as well.

Thanks guys!

I wouldnt mount anything crash related to the frame. Their design does ok because it removes the rider pegs and uses the mounting holes there. Besides that spot i dont think anywhere else could take the load from falling without breaking.

Rigid isn't always best (for crash protection :p )...just sayin'

I have one of these ( i think a slightly older model) crash cages, that I never used. The previous seller didn't send me the mounting h/w, but I've seen a list on the forums. I'd let it got for $150 plus shipping if you were interested.
