Some of you may get the reference made there. Anyways, I'm 5 miles from home an the engine just dies, wife is bringing me some tools. The lights, dash and everything come on but the fuel pump won't start. Any suggestions? I'm going to check fuses, and the plugs behind the pulley cover as they have given me problems before.

I have already checked the battery ground and cables but like I said, everything works except for the fuel pump and it won't even try to crank.

My bike (07 xb12) did this to me for the first time two months ago during a ride and it was weird. Lost all power on the highway and i was forced to coast to the side of the road. Everything but the fuel pump would work. Had the bike towed home and the next morning the fuel pump worked great. At least 5 rides since, and I still have yet to figure out what cause the fuel pump to briefly stop working that day. Give it some time to cool down.

I know this isn't a quick "fix-it" reply but more like its happen to a fellow rider and what I did/didnt do to fix it.

Keep us posted.

Fuel pump wiring intermittent short in the tank. Common problem, pretty easy fix. Might get a verification by pulling fault codes.

Rocky horror picture show. hopefully though someone has the suitable outfit to make it worthwhile.
