Took my 07 Xb12r to a V-twin dealership. Wanted to get my oil change and spark plugs since it was a.used back and not sure when the last time it was done. It took them 2 hours to change my plugs. Didn't trip to much because they say it was hard to get to. Finally got it done. Weeks went by notice a change in my bike. Back firing, bogging down. So Took it to Harley to get an oil leak fixed and to find out why it was doing that. That's when I was told about the plug being cross threaded. Now it Boggs down sometimes so bad that it cuts off when I'm sitting at the light. I thought it was my fuel injectors clogged. Ran some stuff through my fuel, didn't help. It all this bogging down, loss of power while riding due to cross threaded plug????

I'm sure if the plug isn't sitting all the way down like it is supposed to in the combustion chamber there could be ill effects.

Could be other possibilities as well though. TPS reset may be needed.

Take it back and make them fix it you paid good money to have a service done! If they give you a hard time go to the show room and bitch out loud .

^^ True statement - if you can still prove that they cross threaded the plugs. That can be an expensive repair (at a shop) or a little lengthy on your own.

all good info provided above as usual. go back to square one, son.
was bike in basic good running order prior to dealer working on it? keeping in mind that the oil/filter change would not affect the bikes' performance......if it was then the problem lies in the work they performed and in all probability with the plugs/wires/threads. a cross-threaded plug as sirius mentioned won't seat onto the head mating surface correctly allowing that cylinder to lose combustion pressure. and i'm betting it's the rear cylinder plug that is crossed. that plug may have also had the porcelain cracked or wire connector center tip snapped during assembly.
bottom line is that if your bike performed decently prior to them working on it and now doesn't, they need to identify and rectify the problem. but i can assure you it's ignition related from what you described.

Yes make them fix it. It will just be worse everytime it gets a new plug, and may not even take a plug next time.crossthreading would let compression out and cold air in. I would make them replace the head and not helicoil or thread repair.good luck

How do you know the plug wasn't cross threaded while a previous owner had the bike? The shop should have informed you of a problem and not just thought you would go away. Nothing wrong with a helicoil fix.
