Hey everyone, I had a quick question.
I am thinking about ordering the Taylor Made case savers from EBR, and I noticed that you can buy a stator cover for 140 bucks and that the Taylor Made stator cover is 160. Would there even be a point to get the case savers? I mean if i go down and crack the stator cover can't I just buy another one for 20 bucks cheaper than the cover? or is there more to it than just replacing the cover?

I would have a hard time spending that on case savers. I would say that they would prevent some internal damage compared to just the case though.

I would say it depends on when the bike goes down. If u go down tomorrow then it wouldnt be worth it. Yes, without them internal damage is possible. But 5 years from now when parts arent available and u go down you will wish u had the case savers. If we could only see in to the future. These will be one of my purchases of 2011.

We are going to have to start thinking about the future for these bikes cause HD is already starting to turn their noses up when it comes to replacement parts.

scenario 1: if you tip over and scuff yer case, i'd bet youd rather have scuffed an easily replaceable cover.
scenario 2: if you wreck it and cause damage to the clutch/stator internals, the bike is gonna be a total loss anyways.
scenario 3: if you lowside it, the case savers might keep the bike internal fluids INTERNAL so you can get back on the track and finish the track day/get you back home to lick your wounds

so 160 VS 140 +??? for; a twenny dollar gasket, bearings?, and labor. not to mention downtime. heaven forbid if you have to drop it off at the shop!
bust out your credit card, and calllendar.

\sarcasm{but don't worry, you won't be spending money putting gas in your bike, and all that overtime you'll pick up to pay for teh repairs will not be cutting into your riding time cuz you won't have a bike}

buy the case savers (and an extra stator cover if you so desire), support EBR, and have some piece of mind.

My thought...

If the case is worn thru, or heavilly cracked, you can't drive the bike home from a simple lowside.
Call a flatbed, wait, worry about how he ties the bike down, etc., etc.

When I got hit on my R1, the savers took the hit, so I was able to drive home (even though I shouldn't have !!).

If my CR goes down lightly and I'm able...no tow trucks here.

I've (obviously) got'em and so far...happy they are there.
