After 54 years of riding finally hit a deer on the TT. I was pulling out of a small town on a country road. Was passing the 50MPH speed limit sign when a smaller deer shot across the road right in front of me. Hit the brakes big time and probably got the speed down to 25 or so. Hit the deer in its rear hind quarter or rear leg. It was a solid strike with the bike shuttering and slowing. The deer seemed to bounce off and went flying off into the brush in a semi circular motion.

Was able to keep the bike upright and it handled like nothing had happened. Pulled over and inspected the front end and found no damage. Nothing looked bent, forks were not leaking, the front fender sustained no damage, (I replaced the TT fender with a lightning fender) and found no signs of deer fur. Continued on with the remainder of the ride, about 125 Miles. The bike handled fine all the way home.

From the lack of visible damage and fur I'm guessing the tire was the only thing that hit the deer. Hopefully there's no hidden damage that will show up in the future.

I can relate, I live in middle America and animals on the road (both dead and alive) are a huge problem. Deer or dogs, cats, and one of the biggest problems is coming around a corner and a bunch of Vultures are feasting on a dead animal. Brake time. I did hit, or I should say I had a small involuntary connection with a young deer once. I was on a vintage 1980 Suzuki 750, it came out of nowhere, hit the side of my bike/leg turned and went back into the woods. I assume it was okay, as well I was. Smacked me right in the port side.

Scary How they come out of nowhere and you don't see them until they're almost on top of you. This year I've seen a lot more Deer Road Kill than I remember seeing in the past.
