My 2000 x1 blew its shock so I found a brand new one from old stock at a Harley dealer online. It is the recall shock part#k0421.9 and it was listed as being fr the x1 lightning. Well, I have my bike on a stand and looking at it they do not seem to match up length wise...did I buy the wrong shock, or is my blown one just pulling outward still?

You should need the 14.5" length shock. The older standard shock is 16". Like you said your old one might be sagging.

Also remember that if you have any weight on the rear the shock will compress. One of the best things to do it just take the shock off and try to put the new one on.

There are three different length shocks and two possibilities for your bike the shorter shock that you have needs a front bracket that positions it almost an inch further back, the next one after the recall was longer and had a bracket that did not have as much offset to it. One half inch in this bracket I believe is like an inch of difference in ride hieght.

Does anyone know where I can get the mounting hardware for the new recall bracket? I just recieved my new bracket from Americansportbike and apparently it doesnt come with hardware...I find it silly that it would not i nclude that, or there would be no note saying there was no hardware if it needed new bolts and nuts to go with it...
