Draining oil from crank case for oil inspection

I've got a Uly that may have contaminated oil. I'd like to drain and inspect the crankcase oil before firing the bike up. I'm curious about the best option for draining the oil from the crankcase, not just the swingarm. I've looked through the manual and it covers oil changes and oil hose installation, but doesn't specify which outlet to use to evacuate oil from the crankcase itself. Or perhaps I just overlooked it in the manual. Suggestions?
 
If the check valves and oil pump are behaving, there shouldn't be much oil in the crankcase, right? Just what was dripping down from the heads/etc when you shut it down. I'd drain the swingarm, and if you're feeling extra cautious drain the oil feed line to the oil pump, and the oil cooler via it's lower line. Fill the swingarm with safe but cheap oil, pull the spark plugs and spin the motor over a bit on the starter to prime the system without putting it under combustion pressure. Once you're comfortable that the flush oil is circulating, do a normal oil change with the oil of your preference.

What did the oil get contaminated with?
 
There exists a specific multi-step tedious procedure to fully drain the oiling system and crankcase assembly of an XB engine. Part of the process involves the R&R of a "casting machine plug" without destroying the crankcase assembly. How confident are you in your mechanical skills?

I'm confident with my mechanical skills, but it sounds like there's not much oil volume actually maintained in the engine. Based on that, it seems various change / run / flush routines, or a crank-with-return-line-removed scenario will work just as well. Thanks!

I'm still waiting to hear what sort of contamination he's dealing with.

It's a salvage bike which did not have an airbox cover. I'm concerned it may have rained in the throttle body while on the salvage lot.
 
Just pull the clip from the fitting (no need to unscrew) and pull out the lower oil line, the one that feeds the sump/swingarm. If there's any significant amount of water in there, it will flow out first.
