So I just wanted to take a minute to share my recent experience with Kevin from Drummer. I recently bought a used Drummer SS from a Bueller who no longer needed it. Well as I asked the wrong questions of people and I ended up with a Drummer SS made for an XB12. Problem is I have a 08 xb9sx. Whoops! Anyway I was really disappointed and thought I would have to resell the pipe. Well that’s before I called Kevin. He and his staff where incredibly nice and informative and more than willing to answer every question I had. In fact they gave me some of the best customer service I have ever received. Which is amazing to me as I was never actually their customer. Long story short Kevin told me if I paid for the shipping he would swap the ends and put in a reducer for the size outlet. So basically I will be a customer for life!:D

I thought about the SS but I just couldn't justify almost $700. Love the deep tone.
Instead I got the Hawk and used the savings to pay part of the cost of buying a new locker for my Jeep's rear axle after breaking the differential on my first trip of the season.

Got my Hawk yesterday put it on but have not been able to ride it. All I have to say is it sounds awsome!

Ya I cant wait, I leave for work around 5. My wife heard it and told me i had to walk it to the road and start it. lol

Someone let me know how the drummers drivability is! If it smooths it out to where you can drive in the lower rpms w/o the stumbling? does it smooth out the stumble when cruising? Does it still have the superior low end torque and punch?

If you look at the dyno plots on Drummer's web site. The curves stay well behaved.
But so did mine with the Hawk. I can put around the neighborhood at 30MPH and about 2K no problem.

@Jon. Mine sets off the alarm on my wife's Cherokee if I pop the throttle even a little in the garage.

I just got my xb12s about 2 months ago and have been reading up to learn the most economical mods to increase performance. I got lucky and found someone on Craigslist that wanted to trade a drummer for a stock pipe, he said it was too loud. Problem was he had an xb9. Long story short my xb12 with the xb9 drummer, crankcase breather mod and ultimate airbox mod runs like a champ. Just as torquey down low and stronger throughout the rpm range. Also getting better mpgs. Sounds about twice as loud and I love it. Next up is K&N and ecmspy.

a drummer with open air box and ebr race ecm is the way to go. it's an expensive set up, but the way to go. i've ridden my bike in all three set ups. just the drummer equals great sound and pull with some stumble and popping on decel. drummer plus open air box equals more stumble and popping. drummer with ebr ecm first gen (no pipe specific) equals terrible. drummer with open air box and ebr ecm for drummer set up equals better sound, better pull, better fuel economy (slight) no stumble, no popping, no worries and a bike that feels set up perfectly. just my experience. i wouldn't change anything now, but it took me almost a year to get here....

badidea, what year is your bike? I am just ordering the same parts for my 08.From your experience it sounds like I made the right choice.

it's an 08xb12ss. with the drummer exhaust, ebr ecm for drummer and the asb open air box it has never run better. Can't go wrong.

I spent about 12 months fannying about deciding what to get as being in South Africa there are hardly any Buell owners to visit and 'compare' and the shipping was almost half the cost of the pipe. I took the plunge with Kevin and also ordered the 'quieter' module just in case. I took the plunge and have never looked back (never fitted the quieter attachment). There are some stumbles around 3500rpm if you hold it steady but i can't say that wasn't there before. Unfortunately the local HD dealers don't really care about the Buell customer so there's no offer of help in the 'tuning' but you learn to live with it.
All in all a big thumbs up for Drummer.
