I went to my gragae and installed the drummer SS on my buell xb9sx european version: i just tight a little bit less the torca clamp: 57 Nm instead of 61 as written in the buell maintenance book.
Then i switch on the bike and went for a ride: the bike seemed to run ok, i noticed that some air is leaking from the torca clamp: maybe it is because of the 58 Nm.
I came back to my house , switch off the buell and then i decided to go for another run....the problems started:
1. the bike was not running smooth: as i turn the gas, the bike had not a good acceleration: it seemd that something was pulling from behind:;
2. when i closed the gas it was like thunders were coming off the muffler: aloud back popping;
3. when i was waiting at the traffic light the bike was not regular on idling: a little bit up and down.

I really don t know what to think...
Please give a good advice, i don t know what to do.
I just want to ride my buell.
I hope you can help me once more.
Have nice day
Your friend from italy

What yr is your bike? When installed my drummer ss only 04 xb12r I just tightened all the bolts until they where as tight as they would go........ No clue what the Torque is.

you need to do a TPS reset and then start it and let it idle for 10 minutes so it can adjust/re-learn the idle air control settings. It might run rough for the first 7-8 minutes, but then it will smooth out. the deceleration popping will be there unless you tune it or get the EBR ECM to match the pipe.

The Poping is unburned fuel along with stock Maps not Tuned for an Open Exhaust. Check for leaks take care of those leaks First.Don't worry about the Decelleration Popping at this time.NOW- Then Use the Key Turn Method for your Bike to Reset TPS-Throttle Position Sensor it will help to clear up the Bad Idling.The Bike MUST Idle properly 1'100RPMs Stock ECM/ to perform the way you need the bike to run. Once TPS reset is done let it Idle till the fan comes on.Make sure to have plenty of Fuel in it.Once those items are done Gently Rev it up to 3000RPMs then let it idle.If the Engine idles properly Take her out for a 15/mile ride.This will let the Ecm/and settings to reset to adapt to your Area of where you Live.Don't Dog the Bike. Just Ride the bike.Shift it Smoothly and Steady.Hold the 2nd gear steady at 2'500RPMs and 3rd 3000/and 4th, 3'500 for a bit A- 1/2mile each shift so the Settings hold.If this doesn't work Post me or someone here will Post up the Complete Learn process so as to keep you riding. Let us know how it works for you.If you can't find the 08+ TPS reset Method on this forum Check [Stevenc150] has links for you to read up on for this.If not/ Post me and I'll type it in for you.Take your time.*Jimi

Hi, i took the bike for a ride and especially for the ECM learning process: it seems that the bike is running a little better: the acceleration response is quicker but i still have a lot of backpopping.
In particular it seems that backpopping is not always so loud: sometimes is a little and other times is strong and loud.
So, do i have to do other ride on 3.500 for 10 miles or other?
Please let me know: you have experience on this; i would like to by the EBR ECM but they don t do it for my buell xb9sx 2009.
Many thanks and greetings from milano, italy

Hey link74, don't worry to much about the Decelleration Popping it won't hurt the Engine. It's a little annoying at best.Any Vechicle with a Stock ECM SAY you change the Exhaust,and maybe the air filter etc.,if you just bolt on parts that pertain to Fuel related areas of Any Engine cause some popping with out an ECM retune.You can ride the bike like that for a while if you want.Learning how to tune the Ecm for the changes you do to the newer Engines of Today can cost money and some time.Some just don't mess with that area of the bike.The Drummer SS is a good choice for your bike and will sound off pretty well.Make sure to break it in easy so you get the most out of the Muffler.The learn Ride is ok and will help BUT not with Decelleration poping.So ride it and Start Checking out maybe Retuning it yourself and take your time so you can get it right.If thats not your thing then till you are ready just ride it and keep it with both wheels down.*Jimi[up]
