My reflective coating is starting to dull/brown and light output is diminishing. Was looking at upgrading. The entire bulb and housing in a single go. The market for 4" housings is slim and don't want to shell out for another stock housing. I came across a dual headlight setup but with 5.75" rather than the 4". Other than slicing wiring and making some drop down brackets, it should be relatively simple and cost effective.

Something like this:

Thoughts?

Those are basically triumph speed triple headlights retrofitted with led's.

Yes they are. Picture was just as a reference, but want something along the same lines. I wasn't sure if anyone here has done this rather than just upgrading the bulbs. Searched through the forum and found a few conversionseconds, but I am leaning towards this setup.

(just upgrading the bulbs) I went through about 6 high ouput bulbs, the V vibrations eat the filaments up. back to $5 bulbs on Amazon. Low light works better than no lights

I have contemplated just replacing bulbs, and really like the amount of light the LEDs put out. Want something along the lines of the HD daymaker(without the $400 price tag), so looking at similar lights in the aftermarket. Found a few online and the cost for both will be around $100 plus the cost of any extra items I may need and the brackets, which I will make. I see the amount of light output of some of these and wish mine was even 1/2 of that!

Thank you lancruza, I have seen those and they are a possibility. Have you used these, or know someone who has? I even have seen Hella brand 90mm (I think) that were a decent price too.

No, I haven't done either of these, but the video does look interesting. There's also a thread about HID conversion. I can't locate it right now. Not sure how well the HID bulbs will hold up. As Silverrider mentioned above, It can be expensive if you have to constantly replace bulbs.

Lancruza, I have thought about the HIDs as well. I have installed them on past cars I have had but given the limited space and scattered light without the projector lenses, I had passed on that.

Silver rider, I have been looking into LED bulbs like those you are looking at. While thinking of changing the bulbs, even though greater light output, still would be masking the issue of the reflective coating losing its reflective ability. Hense why I am looking at upgrading both the bulb and housing in 1 shot.

Maybe these? Always hard to tell what the light dispersion will be like though?

Those could possibly work! Not sure if they would fit in Stock housing or have to make a mount. Wish they had actual pictures of output in real world rather than a room on the floor... I pretty much want as muchildren light as possible without having to modify the electrical system. Definitely worth looking into.

I make these. Dual low beam and dual high beam in the original housing. No change in wiring, no change in brackets. plug and play :)
And more important, no glare!!!!

I also made a couple of Xenon headlights. They are a bit brighter, but harder to install. You need to find room for 2 ballasts and a power cable from the battery to the flyscreen.

Marcel, thank you for the reply! I wanted to stay away from hid, due to room for ballasts. On the first ones, that is exactly what I have in mind. Are those the 5.75 (5 3/4") headlights? If so, they mounted into the stock 4" housing?

***edit
You said you make these.. am I correct in assuming you make/sell them?
