FYI this is going to be a long read lol

So i work mid nights at my job. On my ride into work tonight, on of the last roads i take is about 2 miles long and straight as an arrow. I usually have a little fun on this road.

I turned onto this road tonight and noticed a car turn behind me that wasn't close enough behind me on the previous road to be that close to me on this road. So i think to myself boy i hope that isn't a cop. lol

Well i take off, the last time i looked down i was over 100 and still climbing. I get toward the end of the road where i know the stop sign is coming up soon so i slow way down before slowing down for the stop sign. Get close enough to stop sign to see flashing lights reflecting off from the stop sign.

Look in my mirror and sure enough a cop is coming up on me with his lights on.

I pull over and shut the bike off and get off from the bike. Take all my gear off and the cop is next to me at this point.

Asks for my license, so i give him that and my reg as well.

he asks if i knew why he pulled me over. I'm very polite and answer him with "Unfortunately sir i am"

so he said he was following me on the previous road and i was like oh. He then says "you put a lot of distance between us in a very short amount of time." and asked if there was a reason i was going so fast.

So i was honest and polite once again and i said "there is actually no reason for me to be going that fast"

He asks me a couple more questions and gets into his car.

About 2 mins he gets back out and says to me

"Ever hear the saying honesty will set you free" and hands me my license and reg back.

tells me to "slow the **** down" and walks away.

moral of the story not all cops are ******** and if you ever think a cop could be behind you behave lol

This is the wise thing to do. These bikes great yes, but those cop cars can hit higher top speeds unless youre in some windies youll get caught. I use to bolt on cops in my gsxr750 but on the XB just pull over get off sit and wait for the ass chewing.

Yep, You did the right thing, you stopped, provided everything requested in a professional manner and were rewarded with a warning.

Alot of morons run, get caught or wreck, and go to jail, hospital. All for a $200 fine or possibly a warning as in your case.

Yeah run away was never even a thought. I have a very good lawyer if i had gotten a ticket.

Hahaha except the 1125r, you can outrun helicopters on the 1125.

I've always thought about this, all depends on where I am I guess, I'd never try and run, but maybe strategically turn a few times while hard on the throttle, if I was on the freeway I wouldn't even try. Maybe in the twisties if I knew them well.

Good story.

I've been lucky with cops(in my truck) and have been pulled over probably a dozen times or so and only got 1 ticket. Almost always for speeding(say 10-20 over). I'm always honest and polite, pull off in a safe area, hands on the dash or steering wheel. They have always let me off with a warning or some other minor violation(such as failure to show proof of insurance, so then I just go to the DMV and show proof and it's dropped).

From my experience, majority of them are good. Except my last incident where they wouldn't help me at all when a lady backed in to my truck :(

I haven't had a ticket in 10 years. Tons of tickets before that. Hmmm what changed that caused this long period of no tickets? Ah yes....my attitude.

Always had a good view of cops, just last week the dick who had it out for me wrote me a wind deflector ticket...

same ticket the other thread is about? red windshield?

I get pulled over about once a year only on my bikes and I'm always honest with them and always walk away with a warning
