Early S1 tail to an X1?

I like and want the svelte look of the S1 (1996-1998) on my eventually X-1 chassis by swapping at least the back tail section. How hard can this be and has anyone done it or have inside info. Here's a pic of one done but I can't figure out exactly how they mount.

The Cyclone essential has this done already albeit with the larger rear tailsection I don't like.
