Doug,

We have spoken with Alan, and have seen the recorded data. The race ECM and Jardine run fine when warmed up, but are a little hesitant when cold. This is a race ECM, and as such this type of running should be expected.

Thank you,
Customer Support

Subject: regarding ebr ecm-Y0173.10AZ.......(M3PJD012)

I am inquiring about the ebr ecm I bought. I have emailed you in the past about the cold idle stalling that my 2009 1125 cr was doing every time its started when cold. At least 3 to 4 starts before it will run with out stalling. The bike has been at Biker bobs Harley Davidson for 3 months and they have changed the throttle body, fuel injectors and have put in 50 + hrs into the bike. Some of the tests that where done-check ecm grounds ,test fuel pressure, intake leaks, tps testing, dyno testing, test coolant temp sensor, check fuel pressure switch and many other checks on the bike The bike has your ebr ecm and a Jardine pipe on it..So after all this time , Allen at HD headquarters wanted the bike back to stock pipe and ecm, so this week end that was done. Now at start up it does not stall…..Do you think the ebr ecm may have a glitch? I was standing right there when they did the switch from the race ecm and jardine pipe to the stock ecm and factory pipe. So now I have a ebr ecm and jardine pipe that will not work on my bike!!! Can this ecm be looked at?

This is the response I got back from EBR - IMO horrible customer relations....This is only one of three emails after 14 weeks of my bike at the HD shop, also when this first started with the bike I contacted EBR and they where quick to point at other parts of the bike! Just letting every one know about this purchase

thats pretty normal for a race ecm.im surprised you dont have more problems at lower rpms.not many stop signs, stop lights and 30 mph zones on a race track.

You still have to start the bike at the race track! So its normal to start a fuel injected bike 4 or 5 times before it will idle ? Thats bulls#@t, plus I never mentioned stop signs or stop lights , this happens just starting cold and takes a few minutes so the bike will idle!!!

I'm sorry to say that you are just one of the many customers unhappy with the EBR product. Most people, however, seem very pleased with their customer service.

What they are saying is right, though. The ECM has been optimized for the race track. This is why it's so silly for people to be running race ECMs on the street. Since this does not occur with your stock ECM, it sounds like it's time for you to try a different avenue.

When you get tired of all of this, come check out my website. I can get you set up with a custom tune that won't give you these issues, and if it does, we'll work on it until it doesn't anymore.

I have the EBR ECM tuned for jardine RT-5 on my 2009 1125R and it works flawlessly. One start and we're good. No stalls, no hiccups, no nothing.

+1 for the Tuniversity with theoctopus; he can custom tune an ECM for your bike's specific conditions, needs, and circumstances.

you should have gotten the ecm tuned for the jardine not the race ecm. This is a race ECM, and as such this type of running should be expected

Mine is the Race ECM tuned for my RT-5 and It works great, to clear any of that up.

I have the race ecm on my XB, idles fine at cold start, short stops, cranking after a short start stop is kinda funny acting, tho, I think my paricular issue is from IAT heat soak because of the fan not running after shutdown

Yes the Guys are correct as a lifer race track rider, Track days and All, my own 09-XB12R A Tuneable ECM along with a 1050 kit and some upgrades at times does the same thing. She will stall COLD a couple of times till warmed up.
I have had to (invent) an engine warmer for the oil Tank, used one from A Diesel Engine. Had to make an adapter to extend to down into the oil tank and it's 115Volts. Very Costly to invent TO Make It Safe. When at the track I get it in there and plug in to warm up the oil to 205.Deg./ I usually set the Timer about an hour depending on the weather.
AND Yes it sometimes still Stalls till the Cylinders are Fired! Tires are wrapped with warmers as well. My Cousin has a CR {damn I LOVE that Bike}, and I've done some Tuning to get it better. He has gone back to Stock ECM Except on Track Days. I have Slightly Tuned his here in the Shop with The Direct Link Race Software so it works better on A Stock Engine for the Street.
I on my 08-XB12R I just use the Stock ECM I have just slightly retuned it cause it HAS a Stock Engine. IF you all that are buying the Race ECM for which ever Bike it's for at times will get issues with idling and maybe a Dead spot area cause you are also using it on a Street Engine not a built up race engine. Racing always needs some Tweeking here and there. Get with Octopus with your Stock ECM on the Buell & will help get your bike Working as you would like it to . When you do get it right Try not TO Wreck it OR to GET A Ticket!! The Bike will be a Different Animal. Be Patient and it will all come together with some Tuning! Make sure to reset your Suspension & give yourself Time getting used to it. Ride Safe! *Jimi [smirk][up]

had the race ecm on my xb hard start cold and hesitation at 4000 rpm from 4500 to 7000 it was awesome.got the ebr ecm for d&d great performance to 5500 rpm no top end though.put the stock on and dyno tuned pulls hard from 1500 rpm to 7000.

It is the tuned ebr ecm for the rt-5 jardine system!!!
thats different than the race ecm send it back and have it checked if you have been telling them you have the race ecm then that is where the confusion is.

that's different than the race ecm send it back and have it checked if you have been telling them you have the race ecm then that is where the confusion is.

I never said that it was the race ecm!I asked to have them look at it. ebr said race ecm .I used their coding (ecm-Y0173.10AZ.......(M3PJD012)

i would send it back and have it checked.if they cant get it right ask for a refund and invest in octos class.most people are happy with the ebr ecms but preprogramed ecms are not a 100% due to a number of factors mainly location.i was happy with my race ecm but i knew i would have problems in real world riding.the ecm programed for your exhaust should be very close to right on.so it should be taken care of and i know they have reflashed and in some cases refunded other members money.good luck

No luck so far with having them look at it! I have aked and been told "This is a race ECM, and as such this type of running should be expected" from EBR.

they may have changed their customer service policy when they upped the prices.wich really sucks.you should email them a link to this thread.
