Has anyone installed a EBR ecm on a 2010 xb12 and if so what pipe and other mods were used and with what kind of results. I have tryed to order one for my bike but the tech at EBR told me they have not calibrated one for the spec. ops. muffler yet I keep checking back with them every few months and now they are saying after the first of the year. I hate the thought of buying a new pipe to match up with an ecm. I may have to go back to stock.

Read up on TunerPro RT. That should get you by until they get an ECM for your pipe. I tuned my '09 12R and it is an amazing difference.

Good luck!

well i have a 09 xb12r with a jardine gp-1, k&n filter, and EBR ecm jardine version and it still runs like garbage... i tried almost everything and the bike still boggs between 3-4k when i open it up... not to mention it dies when the bike starts to heat up at street lights... im beginning to think it was all a waste of money..

This is where i get confused on the ecm issue. I run a jardine with a pro series filter and a stock ecm on my TT and every now and then it'll pop on deacceleration , but have no issues with performance. But some people swear you need to change the ecm, WHY ?

R1aven, i got an 09 XB12R with a Spec Ops pipe, K&N and a EBR ECM. My bike runs great, no flat spot between 3k and 4k RPM, and it pulls like a freight train betrween 4 and 7k. Did you do a TPS reset? Also your bike dying when it gets hot would indicate a different issue that makes your bike run like ****. Redrider if you end up getting the Spec Ops pipe you will probably get decent amount of decel pop. It's normal, my bike did that and i thought it was running lean. Had it dynoed twice and A/F ratio was within norm. Also leave your Interactive Exhaust Valve hooked up. I thought that with the EBR ECM it became inactive, but EBR tech told me otherwise. ECM will allow the valve to do it's thing and it makes a huge difference in the midrange. I heard a lot of people say that the valve becomes usless with the race ECM but it's not true. What it does is, it allows you to run the bike with the valve and it's components disconnected without setting off an engine code.

Thanks for the input Ralph,I do have a spec. ops pipe on the bike and it does just as you say decel pop i also have K&N but will not use till i get ecm the problem is they have not configured one for my bike yet. I guess the 2010 has dual O2 sensors so ecm is a little different then 09 and they sell one now but not for a spec.ops pipe I may end up buying a drummer so i can get correct ecm!

I had an EBR ECM on my '09 Ss for a while. D&D, K&N, breather reroute...ran like crap almost as soon as I put the EBR ECM in.

Did an airbox delete, made no difference.
Got a race can, made no difference.
Got a spec ops, made no difference.
Put in iridium plugs, made no difference.

The EBR ECM finally fried out on me mid-ride...just cut out while traveling ~50mph. Wife brought my stock ecm from home, plugged it in and everything ran fine. Returned the EBR ECR to EBR for a refund...been running the stock ecm since and it runs great.

Miami----- that makes me feel better because everybody keeps saying i'm gonna screw up my bike with the stock ECM. Hell, if it runs good and has no issues ,why should i change.[up]

I get some decel popping, so going to plug it in to ecmspy and see if I can't smooth that out a little, otherwise I'm quite happy with the stock ecm. It doesn't pull as hard as it did with the EBR ECM (but it is close), but I was having horrible idle and running issues when it was cold with the EBR ECM.

from what i just read on this topic maybe i should try putting my stock ecm back in... because i have 2 EBR ECM's and they both have the same problem...

Maybe I missed it...but did you put a high flow air filter on your bike? If the air filter is stock then your stock ecm can adjust for the slip on.

Didn't realize people were having problems with their EBR ECM. Like i said earlier i haven't had any issues with mine and been pretty happy with it so far.

Ok lemme list the thing i ran in sence had the bike.

- stock - it ran perfect just sounded like i was riding a moped.

- added the k&n filter and jardine gp-1
- lots of poping in decel
- loss of power in mid range 3k-4k almost like a hesitation when i open the throttle(consistant loss)

- changed ecm to EBR ecm
- power increase
- decel gone
- still loss of power in same area
- idle gets very weak when bike is hot sometimes it dies at stops

- change to ERB ecm for jardine systems
- no change what so ever.... waste of $300

overall = 1 pissed off rider!! i deal with it because its my daily rider but these problems make me miss my jap bikes...

Why not do a custom map? It will only cost around 50 bucks for the cable. Software is free. There is also plenty of information on here to get your bike running much better than any plug in unit can.

Have you tried to contact EBR to let them know about your problems? IIRC they do have a return policy if your not happy with the purchase.

dallasb i tried emailing my questions but no one ever responded. it was a while ago. i tried useing ecm spy with the cable but i didnt wanna mess with something i didnt understand. i need my bike everyday for transportation to and from work.

It's not about destroying your bike with those mods and the stock ECM. Are you going to reduce the life of your engine long-term? Maybe. Probably not noticeably, though.

The point of tuning is to get more power out of your engine. If you're installing those mods, I have to assume your goal was to get more out of your bike. With the stock EEPROM, you're missing out on quite a bit.

R1aven, if that e-mail was to me, I apologize for not responding. I stopped responding to individual e-mails and PMs a long time ago, since I get about 2-3 per week, and each individual requires about 3-4 hours of my time. If you're interested, you can come join my tuning webinar and learn how to tune your bike from start to finish with TunerPro for far less than the cost of a arguably crappy EBR ECM.

I disabled my 02 sensor with the cable and ecmread, now its a happy firebolt, and im a happy proud owner. I run a stock ecm with a voodoo and breather reroute. Before i set my AFV values both to 100% it had massive popping during deceleration and it drove me crazy. Now its running great. People say i shouldn't do it that way but it has worked great for like 6 months so it will stay like this until i can try someones EBR ECM.
