hey i have a stock ecm and a drummer pipe and k&n air filter, the previous owner installed a race ecm at the same time as the other mods what needs done for it to run good without the race ecm? i did a tps reset not sure where to go from here. I heard that the ecm can adapt to the changes that have been made to the bike? thanks in advance guys

Confused [confused]

You currently have a Race ECM or have a Stock ECM?

If the bike had a race ECM with the Drummer and K&N, why did you go back to stock?

And with those mods (Drummer and K&N) you won't get the bike to run good on a stock ECM. You either have to install a Race ECM or load a custom or Race map onto your stock ECM.

~Mike....;)

If you want to go back to the stock ECM, putting in the stock air filter would help restrict the airflow closer to normal. You could also put the stock exhaust back on and leave the K&N, which would also restrict some airflow, but since I'm not 100% sure what it is you're trying to do, I'm not sure what would be best for you.

sorry guys.. Its an 07 and i have ecmspy (most of the reason i went back to stock) I havent tried the bike out since putting the stock ecm back on except for just starting it quick. I want to keep the mods if possible but get the most out of it without doing a manual tune.. Think the best way is to load a race map onto the ecm? Thanks for the quick responses

If you don't want to tune the bike yourself then the race map is the next best choice.

Mikes(Buller Pilot) has a good point. But if you don't want to run a race ecm.I run my STOCK Ecm, for the fuel mileage I can get 131 that was on Fumes i might add. I try not to go too far past 110 so the fuel pump stays cooler. I usally get Chevron cause for some reason she likes it better mileage wise. I add a 1/4 cup to every 3rd fill up, of True 110 octane. Its expensive but i notice the difference a few miles later. I Have Drummer SS/ON a XB12R/08 a K&N air w stock ecm And Stock AIR box. I get decell popping but I've worked & rebuilt many bikes over 30+ yrs., And my maint., is always low. I have noticed this on my bikes maybe due to the Lack of add ons. A custom tune is what I have on My 2nd Bike a 09/XB12R blacked out model & Translucent(Hero Blue)rims and windshield. I put the works on the engine ( well a 1050 kit) from Rev.,Performance it cost BUT dang! I got a Showyomoto Twin scoop air box/ Check out the site lots of great parts,Now/ Shes a monster. 142-144 hp.On the Dyno the hd dealer here has some pretty good Buell techs. Thats all I need .My RED & Black 08/XB12R is great for just getting around on. Sounds good! Theres a lot of options just take your time. Great help on this Forum.Put some miles on the stock Ecm. Please check the TPS re-set for the older buells, theres a different way than the 2008+ XBs. Many videos excellent for your bike. Ck., out The Daves DIY stuff, And many more at that! BTW-Welcome to Buell XB.com Forum.Safe Ridin!:D
