ecmspy / direct link cable question

will the same cable, that is used to connect with Direct Link software, work with ecmspy? I have downloaded all the necesssary stuff (I think...) to use ecmspy, connected my laptop to bike (04 Xb12R), but not getting a connection. Keep getting a failed to connect message. Any suggestions?

Also, anyone have just a simple checklist off all that needs to be downloaded to use ecmspy?

I'm not looking to modify any fuel maps, just better tune what I already have (what Direct Link doesn't allow). I have an EBR race ecm but bike is running rich and fouling plugs...

yeah, make sure you check to be sure the kill switch is on. We spent about 5 minutes trying to figure out why it wouldn't connect the first time we tried to hook my bike up. We knew the key was on, but didn't think about the kill switch.
