Welcome! ECMSpy (ecmspy.com) is a diagnostic and tuning software written specifically for Buell motorcycles.
Since it targets Buell, it has the advantage of being very easy to use and packs a lot of features. There is also a great User Guide right on the website. There are many things that you can without purchasing the product, such as viewing live data and running some tests. The only downside of ECMSpy, in my opinion, is the licensing model.
No mac version, but there are likely ways around that (VirtualBox, dual-boot, etc). Palm and Droid versions are available (with limited features compared to PC version). Hopefully others will chime about these topics as I'm mainly a pc guy!
The main alternative is a program called Tunerpro (tunerpro.net). Not as user-friendly as ECMSpy - it supports a wide variety of automobiles, and a few motorcycles (including Buell), but it ultimately has the same capabilities if you don't mind a few extra steps.
Technical experience needed... that's a tough one. So many things can be done by just pushing buttons. But, I would really recommend reading through the ECMSpy User Guide and Tuning Guide, both of which are on ECMSpy.com, as they explain a lot Ask away if you have questions!.
