I'm looking for my first Buell, and I have found a XB12Scg for a good price. A fellow board member was also interested in the bike, and mentioned that when he saw it he saw an exhaust leak:

"It will need some work, has a exhaust leak at the pipe where the header goes into the pipe."

"The exhaust leak didnt appear to be a cracked weld or anything like that. So it should be a easy fix."

I haven't worked on vehicles before, and was wondering if you guys could give me an idea of what kind of work would be required to fix this. I'm not sure of what the connection is comprised of, but is there a gasket or something there that I likely can replace to solve this problem? Thanks very much, I'm eager to finally hop on a Buell, but I don't want to get in over my head.

The only info I have concerning the leak is posted above, and since he said that it's where the header goes into the pipe, I was hoping that it was just an issue at the connection, like a bad seal or something. I believe it has the race pipe on it. I don't know if that info helps any or not.

if this is where the leak is its probably the clamp.if its where the header goes into the head its probably the exhaust stud
