The previous owner of my 2002 buell blast did a wack job putting a straight pipe on and obviously when i took it out to drive it it backfired and sputtered/ coughed like hell so I parked it and started taking it apart, so i took the POS exhaust straight pipe off and the studs on the manifold were almost completely stripped and the gasket ? ( im guessing) around the exhaust manifold was completely screwed so my question is where can i get a replacement or how can i fix it?

The exhaust gasket is off any EVO 1200 Sportser. Make sure you get the inverted cone style and not the flat washer style.

You can helicoil the studs.

helicoil? I'm not sure what that is. I was considering getting new studs and turning the old studs out.... is there any way I could make the straight pipe work without backfire? at this point I'm just wanting to be able to run down the road without it back firing and all that

Are the studs stripped or the head where the studs go into? I assumed you meant the head. If just the stud is stripped, then yes you can unscrew the old stud and screw in a new one.

You can make the popping stop with some creative jetting, but straight pipes are never good for an engine, especially a Blast. Spend the money and get a proper exhaust or you may end up buying a new engine.

I just ordered a V&H exhaust from ebay and a new exhaust port gasket, Ill be taking the old stripped studs out and replacing them with new as well, the previous owner of this bike had that exhaust pipe on so crooked im possitive thats what was causing the problems, while im waiting for my new parts to come in I'm going to get new plugs and air filter, get all that done, new exhaust on... change the oil and hopefully i will have a few more months of good riding weather, maybe next winter I'll do the air box mod, those looks way cool

Jardine's better, that's why I said to use it. Oh well. The V&H is very very generic and you will be replacing the packing in the can often.
