Just a heads up for those of you with an FMF Apex CF/TI exhaust, mine just blew apart last night. I called this morning when they opened and they said they've been having some problems with the CF's and are replacing all that come in. When I say mine blew apart, I literally mean blew apart. It separated at the seam, cracked below the bracket, and the bike was loud as hell for a 30 minute ride home. Pulled over twice, showed both cops what happened and both let me go. Shitty night, but it will be replaced so I'm happy about that.

edit: title so it is known (and can be searched) which exhaust needs the warning ;)

You have to figure a design flaw somewhere. You don't see that everyday, glad I made my own. Good luck to you.

Had it on for around 2k, funny thing is we weren't even hitting it hard and it just went. I followed all the break in procedures but like I said, they informed me of a flaw and the Customer Service dept. was great and will have my new one here in a couple weeks or so. Even with that, I am still considering getting a new one from here. Been thinking about the Barker.... just gotta come up with some dough since I've already gone over my limit (set by the wife of course) for this year lol.

Who did you call about this problem?
thats the exhaust i have and just incase i would like to know who to call.
i bought the bike with the exhaust already on it too if that matters.

I have had mine on for about 6K miles with nothing yet... Should have kept my receipt.Bought it from ASB, so maybe I can call them and track down a bill of sale if mine does end up goin TU

i love my barker great sound and with no other mods yet is fluid through acceleration cant praise it enough

Is there a time frame that they are looking at? I got mine on in October last year and nothing wrong with mine.....yet

I don't know too many details other than a lot of ppl have been having problems with the CF models. The rest are fine I guess, and I did like it while I had it.

Just a question, but have they fixed the issue with the pipes themselves, or are they just going to replace yours with another one that will explode?

They are now sending me the stainless steel, no more CF are being sold in that model as far as I know.

"Pulled over twice" Holy cow that sucks dude. Glad you were able to get out of the tickets.

I've heard of several exploding FMF's on BWB. People who ride hard and track day regulars blow them out pretty quickly. My understanding is they have reversed the materials. The skin is now Ti and the end cap is CF. They have replaced exploded cans with that and it seems to be much more durable.

Here is an example. Love this bike. The owner obviously does a lot of trackdays, returned his exploded CF can and got this in exchange.

I ride my bike pretty hard, and nothing yet after 6K with the FMF on it. Hopefully it isnt all of them!

Hey guys, there has been a lot of discussion about seats for our bikes and I have found a company that that is offering the seat for 1125R and CR (and others I think) for about $150. I don't have any affiliation with them other than being happy with my purchase. If anyone is interested let me know and I will give their web info. [email protected]
