Before I put my 03 xb9r away for the winter it was completely stock, almost every time I went for a ride and parked it the fan ran for a few minutes. Over the winter I put on a hawk exhaust and flashed the race maps, RSS, breather re-route, open airbox w/k&n. I've rode my bike just a couple times the last week and very short rides because it was cold and the fan didn't turn on, I figured because it was so damn cold out. Well today I went out for a little over an hour and ran it pretty damn hard and came home and no fan. What could I have done to make it not turn on when I turn the bike off?

race map has a different fan program.fan comes on at speeds over 15 mph and dosnt come on when shut off as often.start bike and let it idle for 10-15 min fan should come on if not then you might have a problem.

Only thing I can think is the race map has the new fan logic, does the fan run when you get to 20 mph? Try the diagnostics in ecmspy, see if you can force it to run

But I didn't burn the whole EEPROM I just inserted the race fuel maps and burned. I don't think the fan was turning on when I was out riding. I'll hook it up to ecmspy tomorrow and test the fan.

No matter how many scoops or Exhaust wraps and mods on Any Air Cooled Engine are done the fan runtime should be at something of the Factory Settings to protect the Cylinders & frame. Sometimes the fan is on low speed when you are riding and very hard to hear. The Fans cooling is everything to these Engines so if it is not coming on properly then check the Program you flashed/burned for the fan should run on high and low when needed. Otherwise the rear cylinder is going to burn up Quickly.
The fan needs to come on the High Speed when the Engine is first turned off for the rear cylinder to drop down around 90degrees less, also cooling the fuel AND pump in the Frame as well after it is first Shut Down. Check your fan Logics run program in ECM Spy. The Engine can get to around 380degrees and higher so maps & Epromm should be burned complete for proper cooling . Test your fan and hope it's just a Glitch in your program.Good Luck *Jimi

Ok so I checked the fan on ecmspy and it works, I also check for any codes and it brought nothing up. I'm letting the bike idle for like 20 minutes right now to see if the fan kicks on during idle or at shut off. Any other ideas why it hasn't been working after I added the race maps?
