Just tore down the cr.. gonna get it painted white this winter.. I already have the airbox and fender so I'm gonna sell these.. came from an 09.. great shape roughly 3000 miles. The airbox has holes drilled in the piece around the gas tank fill hole.. that's how it was when I got the bike. The air ox has red decals and also has a progrip tank protector. Make offers on each. I was thinking the air box, just unsure of it because of the hole drilling. Have anymore pics on how clean the drilling is?

the wholes arent bad.. i did clean them up best i could.. i can get more pics tomorrow as i am at work now.. the airbox has minimal swirling.. most is next to the tank pad from my jacket.. it is still in very nice shape.. i am just painting the bike white and dont want to ruin this one as i have another already painted white

People who run a drilled airbox cover: do you remove the top (or all) of the (actual) airbox? If not, I don't see how drilling holes would have any effect.

If so, what's left to prevent debris from being ingested directly into your throttle bodies?

I have never had any issue with the open air box mods.. had 4 bikes this way now and pry a dozen 4 wheelrrs.. no problems. Bfletcher I will let you know. Crawfo is pending but just wants the air ox I believe.
