I bought my bike from the owner saying that it has a racing chip. I'm curious to see if it's true. Can you tell me how and where to look for race chip? Thanks

It is under your seat and it looks like this. This is a race ECM.

It will say for race use only on it. But I heard that there are some race ECM's that don't have the writing on them. So if yours doesn't I would check the part number with the dealer.

sorry for jacking the thread but I just ordered a race ecm for my bike, anyone get hassled by the dealers about installing it?? I was told by the dealer near me that I have to be a licensed racer to have it installed... I hope that's not true [down]

Just in stall it yourself. There's really nothing to it just two bolts that hold it to the bike and two plugs to plug in.

Technically I dont think they are legal for street use, but I have never heard of anyone getting in trouble for having on installed. If they really wanted only racers to have them then they would require you to show proof of a race license in order to purchase one. Some one else may chime in if they have info to the contrary. I have one installed on my bike and didnt think twice about it.

Oh, one more thing. After you install the race ECM you should probably do a TPS reset since the map is different than stock.

alright thanks, I definitely planned on doing the TPS reset, I just didnt know that installing it myself would be so simple
