Little longer than standard training...was kind of an aggressive kid...got into a fight with another Marine during MCT and got recycled...always regretted that. Missed getting to my original unit.
Spent 1 year in Okinawa, Camp Hansen (was with 3d Battalion 12th Marines, its an arty unit, so i spent time in thailand, and mainland Japan.)
Spent 2 years in Camp Pendleton, CA, with a 7 month "vacation" to Korean Village, Iraq.
Got out with the intentions of joining the reserves....broke my arm in a motorcycle accident and now they wont let me back in...[sad]

Navy Active Duty Chief (E-7) with 17 years. Just deployed so I will be away from my baby (XB12R) until March 2011.

Prior service USAF. I did 6 years in the Air Force from August 2001 - August 2007. My career field was 2F0X1 Fuels (refueling aircraft on the ground). Separated as an E-5 (Staff Sergeant).

Stationed at:
Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan (February 2002 - February 2004)
Offutt AFB, Bellevue, Nebraska (February 2004 - August 2007 and I still reside here in Omaha)

Deployments:
Tallil AB, Iraq (2003)
Al Udied AB, Qatar (2005)
Kuwait International Air Port/Ali Al Salem AB, Kuwait (2007)

I now work as a Civilian in a contracted section of my old job. I would still be in but I did not get to re-enlist in my career field because they were cutting jobs like crazy in Fuels. Didn't get a CJR, didn't get any of the special duties I applied for, applied for cross training and never heard anything. I probably could have pursued cross training more and maybe gotten it, but what are you going to do. If they weren't begging me to stay in I wasn't going to beg them. I miss it sometimes but I'm happy working as a civilian now.

Now work for the USDA as a Wildlife Biologist. Wouldn't take a million dollars for the experience, you couldn't pay me a million dollars to do it again.
