I've got them completely disassembled.... But the lower bushing doesn't look like it's going to come out easy. Has anyone used any tricks to get them out?

They are usually split, and you just spread the split apart a bit and slide them off.

I set a 1ft piece of 2x4 on the ground and forcefully brought the outer tube down on it. They popped out after 3 or 4 forceful hits. The wood doesn't damage the aluminum.

Unholy, sounds like you are referring to xb forks. That's what I am used to seeing. These are sort of pressed into the inside of the upper.

Phlegm, thanks ill give that a shot. I've got a 90 degree pick that I tried to pull with. I got nowhere.

Service manual reads:

"The guide bushing is no longer removed during the disassembly process."

I'm still going to give Phlegm's method a try.
