Does anyone know the paint code or powder coat color for the graphite colored frame on an 08 XB12? I want to do my subframe rails & tail section when I cut the cheese grater off

Squid, I know nothing about painting, so question. Is that paint number the actual color number, or is that a Buell specific paint number for the rattle can? I guess the question would be, can I take that number to a paint shop and that number (MO310.1AAYBP) give them what they need to reproduce it to spray my SS swing that I have sanded?

So say you didn't want to rattle can it, but wanted it powder coated instead but still to match. Is there a particular paint code that you would give the folks at the paint shop? Or are you just better off taking in say the pass. peg frames and having them color match?

^That's why I was asking. I didn't figure spraying the entire swing with a rattle can would be the best most durable way to paint the swing. I have a can of that graphite gray already from spraying my tail chop, but my tail isn't necessarily in a place that will take rocks and other types of abuse. My plate protects it from tire spray.

paint code, always always. will be an exact match, then they will blend everything so there wont be areas of new paint vs old. having it colormatched, its all relative and may not look the same. not the route i would take

call harley or ebr and get the paint code. always teh way to go

I'm going to keep on this as I'd like to have my subframe powder coated the same time I do my wheels. I called two local HD/Buell dealers and go hung up on by one and the other told me they would call me back with that info and haven't

I emailed EBR and recieved a very kind email back stating that they were not Buell and had no affiliation with Buell etc. etc. etc. I understand what they're saying - no fault of theirs.

I just need to find a good Buell dealer around here to talk to. I know they exist, but I've yet to find one.

I just bought two cans of the Graphite gray but decided not to use them. Are you interested in them? I'll sell them for $20 each including shipping to the 48 states...

I just stopped at a paint shop on the way home and found out the following - all news to me as I'm a rookie when it comes to painting. This was per the shop owner;

- Not all manufactures provide color codes to paint shops. Ford and Chevy, yes - He said he'd never seen a H.D. paint code.

- If you bring in your parts however the right shop can match any color and finish out there. This guy couldn't mix it in spray cans, but there are those that do.

- He too said that the frame (brought in a pass. peg) was painted. There wasn't a powder coat that matched exactly as those work off of a pre-colored powder vs. adding more of one color then another. Maybe a bigger shop would have more powder colors, but this guy only had about 20 shades of grey and the '07 frame paint wasn't one of them.

After hearing this, I bought Eric's paint. I'll give it a shot, take my time and see how it comes out.

I sprayed my tail chop with it and from the naked eye, it's an exact match. I was just under the impression that a professional paint job or powder coat may be more durable on something like an entire swing arm.
