just picked up an 96 s1. Just noticed a klunk noise coming from the forks. happens if i apply the front brake or hit a little bump. any ideas of where to start. thanks

Welcome to the board. It would be helpful to know the miles on your bike but just taking a shot in the dark it might be the rotor. The early tubers used 6 pins to hold the rotor to the carrier and in 2000 or 2001 changed to 10.

It could be any number of problems but with that low of miles the triple clamp bearings are probaly your problem. See if you can hear the same noise while holding the brake and pumping the forks. You or a friend can locate the issue that way.

I would also check the brake pads. The support pins that run through the pads may have wear or the holes in the pads may also be worn causing excessive movement of the pads
