Ok lil back story my 05 12R is acting up... I have been riding all year since march no trouble... About four weeks ago it started to hesitate after initial start up a lil rev and it would be fine.. Then it was worse I had to rev it to keep it running and would drive 100 yards sputtering before it cleared up... it would sit at lights no problem after warm... I rode it for a few more days and it got bad, to the point it would not stay running start..idle... 10 sec run time stall out... It would do this a week prior but as I said it would clear up with a little ride but as soon as I shut off and restart it would idle 10 sec and stall again...
Almost seems like it runs on what fuel was primed but doesn't run after unless I give heavy throttle...
I have:
Replaced and leak checked intake seals
Replace plugs
Replaced iat sensor
Replaced tps sensor
Fuel filter
Tps reset x3
Soaked injectors
Unplugged o2
Unplugged temp sensor
Chk grounds

In doing all this I have had no change it starts and runs fine for 5-10 sec and just slows idle till stall.. If I rev it to about 4k it will stay running but will drop to 500-1000 rpm without me moving the throttle...

I am wondering if the pressure regulator would allow pump to prime but its not letting it continue to send fuel once it empties the line therefore allows me to start but not stay running... Only thing that makes sense to me... Pump primes great everytime just not running after and I can rev it and maybe pull some fuel that's why I can keep it running... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
 
I'm thinking maybe either the sock on the fuel pump in the tank is clogged or the fuel pressure regulator is not doing it's job...

Is there any way you could get your hands on a pressure gauge to test the fuel pump's output?...
 
Yeah I should be able to get one... That's where I'm leaning also, just wanted to get another opinion... Thanks
 
Well things have gotten worse... New pressure reg and sock was getting a better run but noticed I maybe had a loose wire it seemed like when I wiggled the fuel plug it would run longer so I re wired it made sure wire match and all it kicked on turned over and now nothing in fact it has dead short if I hit run switch to prime gauges go out lights dim battery reads 12.41-12.11 Checked sub ground chk wire to fuel pump again turn key and unplug 1 wire at a time and it stops the BS for 2 wires also if I let it sit long enough it eventually primes. Fuel pump bad ?
 
with all the parts you've replaced, did you read any codes before doing all that? check the connections at the ECM or the fuel pump? solid connections? dirty connections?
 
Checked all connects had no trouble codes just can't find anything else wrong that would explain no run... So tried replacing stuff least $ to most... Gone through service manual again and again.... Stumped!! Getting frustrated cause it runs great if I spray fuel into intake. I know it's a fuel problem
 
clear the fuel line? flush the fuel tank?

ignition relay? poor connection between it and the fuel pump, if it's not that could be a bad connection between the battery and ignition relay, if not, may very well be a bad fuel pump- wiring, don't rule out a bad ECM or open in the wiring to/from the ECM
 
All new fuel... I'm gonna order fuel pump... I've done all I can I'm chasing ghosts I have checked again ECMspy no problem, no CEL, no codes, yet when I switch to run lights go dim and relays buzz...start kills it, which is crazy cause it was running yesterday... Switched relays no change... I put new connectin on fuel pump plug is all nothing crossed bike was off. It's weird
 
Only thing I figure is better connection increased voltage and burned out a part that was on the way out already...
 
Ok... I've checked relays, fuses, batt is 12.66, ground to subframe.... Still same voltage.... Weird thing is I turn key on it primes strong like normal sometimes then nothing other times.... I'm gonna replace pump and check wires inside and get back to ya thanks for your help and ideas..
 
Ok I wasnt sure it changed...will do...btw it does not crank but will chk as I hit start button... "Everything dies like a short when I hit start button"
 
you should have the battery load tested and replace if needed if battery tests good check all battery pos and neg connections if its all good recheck any electrical work you have done.
