Fuel pump questions

The fuel pump on my 2006 Ulysses intermittently stops working after the bike is well warmed up. If I let it sit for 10-15 minutes the fuel pump works again. I assume the pump failure is heat related. My questions are: Why does heat affect the operation of the fuel pump? Is there some way to protect the fuel pump from overheating? Will buying a new fuel pump/rebuild kit fix the problem?
Thanks.

I have power at the connector between the wiring loom and the fuel pump. I went for a ride and the bike stopped and the fuel pump would not cycle and prime. I checked for power and I have 12 volts at the connector between the loom and the fuel pump. After about 10 minutes of cooling down the pump cycled and primed and I rode home.
Please help, this is driving me crazy🤬

Are you sure it's the fuel pump that quits?

Does it still have power (and ground!) to its connection when it's 'not running'?

It is the ground signal that turns the pump on and off. Thats why I added the exclamation point:eagerness: Whether or not you have a ground signal (when turning the ignition/run switch on and pump not running) will tell you whether to remove the pump or look for wiring issues to the ECM.

The Brown/Yellow wire at terminal 3 lower ECM plug. A continuity check while wiggling all the wires should let you know pretty quickly if theres and issue, or whether you need to pull the pump for replacement or the also common internal wire rubbing issue. Fuel pump removal on a Uly is a 7 minute job if you cheat it like I do below:
