I'm just passing this along. I went and looked at this bike today. It's a little rougher than I want, but it might be OK for someone else. The following is a description of what I found. There may be other things wrong also, but this is what I came across as I inspected. 2009 XB9SX hero blue. 21000 miles, the air box cover is cracked in multiple places, there's a small dent in the right front frame near the puck, both pucks look like they've been off the bike and glued back on, the complete tail section is missing - yes, gone completely, there is an aftermarket tail light that has the turn signals built-in, only the right side was working, there are no external turn signals on the rear, there's no low beam headlight only hi beam, the housing is there just no bulb, there are small scratches and gouges on the bottom side of the frame and the left-back bottom of the swing arm, the bottom of the bike is a little moist with oil but not bad, I could not tell where the leak is, the air box mounting tabs are broken and the air box is discolored in several places, it has aftermarket Clutch and Brake levers and no mirrors, there were only 2 screws holding the chin spoiler, it has a couple of small tears on the edge of the seat, the bike stumbles on cold idle and has a pretty big clunk when you put it in first gear. On the plus side the tires are in great shape. I did not ride the bike because it was not in the shape that I was interested in. I just thought I would give a rundown of the things I spotted in case anybody wanted to know. $2990 is a tempting price, but it needs lots of little things. I'm sure I missed some things but this will give people a general idea about the bike. The bike is in the Greenville, SC Craigslist. Here's a link. The pictures look really good. They fooled me. I drove 3.5 hrs to and 3.5 hrs from today for a total of 7 hours. I was told it has a clean title but i did not verify. Caveat emptor.

Hey lunatic, what do you mean "the bike mentioned is utter garbage"? Are you saying an XB9SX is utter garbage? I'm confused?????

the SX cityX line of XB's are wonderful bikes. i've been enamored with them since i bought my first new one in 2006 which i still have. i've owned probably 8 SX models thru the years and still own 3 at this point in time. one of my fav buells ever. the SX you sadly drove 7 hours round-trip to potentially buy.....but fortunately passed on...is utter garbage. shame on the seller for not disclosing its deplorable condition to you ahead of time.

OK, I gotcha. I was confused. That was the first Hero Blue/all black combo that I had seen in person. Luved the look of the bike. I'll just keep looking. I'll find the right one eventually. Enjoy your Sunday.

Wow! redwood. That's a win-win all the way around. When did you get your bike? Where do you live? I am really liking the all blacked out/Hero Blue version. That's a great view, the landscape and the bike. Yeah, I'd say you definitely got your money's worth on that deal. I would have snatched that up so quick it would have made your head spin. HEY, if you want to make a couple hundred in profit, I'll give ya $3200 for it, and you can even keep the helmets, lol.

Hey lunatic, I can make out 3 bikes in your avatar pic, but it's such a small pic that I can't make out what they are. I see that you're selling your 06 SX, looks like a really nice bike. What bikes are you keeping? What are the other two? Also, any thoughts on an SCG? The SCG is on my radar also. I've never seen one, that I know of. From what I've read, the SCG has a lower seat height by about an inch and a half, an 8 piston front brake caliper vs a 6 on the SX, and 41mm forks vs 43. Wheelbase is the same. I'm guessing by losing an inch and a half that the riding position will be a little more compact. Footpegs seem to be in the same location on both.

the scg is a standard lightning-s model with the cg added as suffix meaning "center of gravity". in essence whether a 9 or 12 it just sits lower. simplest 2 ways to identify a real one is thru the VIN designation of WX for all years scg as well as bright yellow colored rear shock spring. if an scg has 41mm OD fork tubes it's news to me. all XB models have the ZTL 6 piston front caliper thru end of 2008 model year. all firebolts started to receive ZTL2 8 piston caliper beginning 2009 model year with rest of the XB line following later on. most including myself think the scg is ergonomically cramped in the seat to peg position for people over 5'8" or so...others don't seem to mind. there are 2 brand new XB buells known to exist in the entire world. coincidentally one of them is an scg which is also the very last buell ever built. it's on permanent display at the barber museum. the other one is an XB black lightning and it's in my collection.

Yes sir, I took this pic in March when I was at Barber. The placard stated that it was the last XB to go down the assembly line. I agree with you that the riding position might seem a little cramped on an SCG. I'm 5'10" with a 31" inseam. My current SV650 is very comfortable to ride, but it's ergo's are a lot different. I'm gonna continue looking for a 9, but if I get an opportunity to look and ride an SCG I'll probably try it, just for fun.

WOW! How did you get a hold of the Black lightning that was new? Here's a pic of the one I used to have. I bought it new when Harley pulled the rug out from under. XB12SS $6400 out the door.

bought exactly the same bike around thanksgiving/2010 from S&P H-D in williamstown, WV. end of buell special but paid $6999. was the Ss "dark edition" like yours. a black lightning looks quite a bit different.

Quite a collection redwood. Wow an R1M and even an Italian. You are blessed. I was just joking about the offer. You got a great deal. Heck, if I found a deal like that in Cali I could pay for shipping to NC and still be ahead. On second thought. If you ever get tired of the Buell, let me know.
