This weekend's ride with the DMV group was also a shakedown run for some hidden gear that made packing a breeze. The pictures are just contents of the top bag and one saddle bag. The other saddle bag had raingear, a qt of oil, and small misc items.
I'm sure this is not new to alot of riders, but these bags are the shizz! They are waterproof backpacking bags. They keep contents dry in anything but submersion. Once contents are in, compress to get the air out, and roll up the end. What I liked most about them is the outside is slick, so it made everything easy for test packing. Everything just slips in and out of the luggage easily.

I will be buying more of these in various sizes/colors. The colors really help old people (me) remember in what bag the thingamagig is in when you need it.

[up] Looks really good on the bike. I normally dont like any bags on XB's but it looks great on yours.

I agree with crazytexan, not just because he's crazy and a Texan, but because your set-up does look nice! [up]

Those bags are a great idea, especially with the limited storage capacity we typically have on Buells! Thanks for sharing!

Do you have a name of the bags, or a link to where you purchased them? I'm sure REI, Cabellas, etc carry them?

I sourced all of mine from Fleabay, even got two 75L bags used. Those have a Texsport branding on them. But the rest came from vendors that carry hiking/camping goods and are of various brand names.

Variety pack
It does pay to shop around as the variey pack is a few bucks cheaper on amazon.

That's a lot of ****! Ok so kinda off topic but is there a bracket for the oem saddle bags? Yours just look way more 'OEM' than mine look. I also didn't know how much you could get into them when properly packed!

Oem brackets were sold as a part of the luggage kit, and were nothing more than a reflector bracket replacement that allowed the bottom rear straps on the bag to wrap around something. The oem brackets are gone with my tail chop. I use a short length of carbon fiber tent pole with large suction cups on the end to hold the bottom of the bags apart. The rear bottom velcro straps just loop around the pole and hold it in place.

I don't know about wine, but when emptied out they will hold a case and a half of beer![up][cool]

Zeroflat24-- Here are some photos of what I use to keep the bottoms of the saddlebags apart. First one is of it installed as you would see looking from behind the bike.

This shows the spacer seperate from the bags. The tent pole is 11" and the ends are 2" suction cups from a birdfeeder window mount option. It was a temperary solution that turned permanent.
