So I am taking my xb12r 08 to get a dyno run so it will now run properly with it's Jardine RT-one can.

However, going over the pricing on the phone the lady mentioned that there would be a $80.00 charge for the disconnection / removal of the o2 sensor on the bike.

I have all the tools that anyone could need to do work on a bike, however I have no idea how to go about doing this.

Anyone know a list of instructions on how to go about this?

(on another note)

I installed my Jardine RT-One can about 2 months back, but only rode the bike a about half a dozen times from the time I put the new exhaust on the bike.

I was told I could have damaged the the engine, burning a valve perhaps?

Can anyone debunk this at least comfort me to say the least that I very much unlikely damaged the engine? (The Engine sounds fine and the bike runs fine [other than the decel popping ]

I have a Jardine on my bike with factory computer with no major problems. The O2sensor is on the back header. pull the air box cover, then the air box(Top And Bottom and i think you may beable to get to it.

underneath your inner airbox base you can unhook the wire for the O2, it will throw a code but I cant remember if shops dyno tune by just disconnecting the wire.

to remove the O2 sensor altogether you need to unbolt the top of the rear shock, remove the fan, then use a crows foot O2 socket. on the S you need to unbolt the subframe too but I dont know on the R. definitely need to remove the fan on either model though.

did you ask your shop if they dyno tune with the O2 simply disconnected? if that's the case, you can just use your torx wrench in the tool kit and get to it yourself in the parking lot. remove... outer airbox > inner airbox > inner airbox base > wire is exposed

oh, and check your plugs to see if you're running overly lean. thats one quick way to sorta tell whats up.

if you left the airbox and filter stock, and only installed the Jardine can, you're most likely fine. definitely wouldnt burn up the motor by just slapping that can on. if it did create a lean condition, the ECM is probably upping the AFV to compensate but it can only go so far.

Pretty sure they run a wide band O2. So you gotta take yours out.

ah, that would make sense then. i was going on past experience where they just clipped to the front plug and jammed an analyzer up the pipe. BUT, now i remember that was tuning i had done with the TFi in place.

WB O2 swapped in makes sense, thanks mrdozer ;)

EDIT: but that raises a question how they would use the WB O2 (?), it would only be reading the rear cylinder.

curious to hear what they're using to tune your bike, shobbsww. can you fill us in with more info on the shops tuning process?

normally, they should have a tested map that they made for the exhaust with rebuilt test-headers with a wideband's in each headerpipe.

then it's justa matter of a minor adjustement to your engine with the analyzer up the pipe.

if they run it only on the rear headerpipe, the mapping would not be correct.
