I changed mine to the firebolt setup and it was definitely worth it. I just didn't like the aftermarket look.

You'd have to look around for a crossbar that would fit the stock bars. I had an extra sitting around from the Renthals I put on my last bike, so I thought I'd put then on my stock xb9s bars but they were way too skinny at the point where the cross brace would go on.

That was the main reason I couldn't fit the renthals on my xb9, the center portion was too wide, and even if I slid my controls in all the way I still could not get my cables sorted. I really want a new set of bars but am paranoid that if I find one with the right height and back sweep the center will just be too wide to work.

Has anyone looked into the renthal road ultra-lows? They look like they'd be nice, and are only $50 or so online.

Hey kbaddict,

I think your right I like the look of the firebolt setup on the lighting. Is that very hard to do?
Do you have to raise or lower the forks?
How much did you spend to find a set?
Thanks,

Nice BiKe![up]

Just recently damaged my handle bar & now looking around for replacement. I agree w/ you riceetr I liked how kbaddicts firebolt set-up looks. Kb is the handling the same as when you have the stock handle bars or did it improve ?

My LSL Fat Bar adaptors with Driven CR Low gold bars. I wish they were 1/2" lower and 1/2" more pull back, but these are the closest things I can find (my optimum bar doesn't seem to exist lol).

Also, PAZZO levers, Driven D3 billet and gel grips, LED turn signal mirrors.

Ignore the rest, frame & swinger are getting powder coated black, I have black forks, have a non- X Hero Blue air box, Amber wheels and I can't find Amber BUELL air box decals.

Haven't gotten bar ends yet, but I have Oberon large black in mind.

i think i have LSL superbike, anodized to match my amber wheels. very aggressive and low.

Ya, they are nice bars. Too much pull back for me though. I've had the Rizoma's too, extremely nice bars, but too much pull back for my liking.

BTW, I cut 1" off either side of my Driven bars.

Perhaps use a keyless ignition set up? You replace the ignition key receptical with a trim piece. Then there's an electronic sensor that recognizes a key chain you keep in your pocket. So anytime you near the bike, you can start it without a key. I don't recall the company, but I'm sure there's more then one.

Thanks Mike for the sensor idea! I’ll look into it...

Some R owners swaps there bars for S in order not to be leaning forward so much. Some have back problems or there wrist hurts. I guess riding with lower bars could be tougher on the wrist then with street bars, especially if you’re driving a lot in the city (stop signs & red lights).

I have a friend who uses his low bars bike on race track only. He uses his other high bars bike on the street. He said that once you ride on a race track with low bars, you don’t want to drive on the streets anymore.

Personally, I like the aggressive looks of Shilohsk8 and kbaddict and I’m going for it.

The firebolt clip ons + Bar end mirrors setup make the bike look even meaner!! I just love it! Tomorrow i'm going to look for those.

Which are the best handelbar risers for my 09 XB12R and Windscreen that helps with the wind not beat you up while on the highway

Love my Pro-Tapers (Carmichael bend). They get you forward, out, and down just a bit from stock. I'm on the fence about the cross bar, but am kind of liking it the more I see it. Check it out:

I have not read every post, just throwing my hat in the ring here:D
I just went from stock bars on my XB12SS long to FLY Racing aluminum "CR Low" bars with the removable cross brace($38.99 @ local shop). The bars are such thick aluminum tube that I had no worries about removing the cross brace. It was a bit of work getting enough length worked out on all the cables and wires, but I did it, every thing fits/works fine now. I LOVE the new bars (I run CR Low on ALL my bikes) moved my hands forward a little bit, but more importantly got my wrists and arms strait (elbows out) and makes the bike feel much more "Flickable" and under control to me.

I tried to put 7/8" mx bars on today... they hit my forks?is it just the bars? did anyone have to re route the cable around the frame instead of the housing in front??
