Head Bearings

Easy question. Under hard braking I get a clunk that I can hear and feel through the hand grips and I’m pretty sure it’s from the steering stem head bearings. I am able to unload the forks but how to I tighten these bearings? I have a shop manual coming in the mail but I want to fix this now before I put a flat spot on anything. Any insight would be great!

I do not believe these are "tighten-able" bearings. Download the Firebolt service manual from above, take a look at page 2-53. That should get you what you need to know.

i had a clunk that could be felt and it turned out to be brake rotor play at attachment bolts

also check your front motor mount

I had this issue a long time ago and all it that needed to be done was the steering stem nut and upper triple tree clamp needed to be tightened up on the middle bolt[up]
