Header Removal?

Hey gents,
I have been thinking long and hard about getting my headers and remaining exhaust powdercoated a flat black. However, I don't even know how to take the headers off. Is it an easy process, of a difficult one? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Not easy for the rear. It's either rotate the engine or drop/remove the swingarm. I've heard of it being done without rotating the motor, but from what I understand, it was a major pain to do it.

yeah rotating the engine is not easy. It took me hours to pull the header off and put a new one on

On the DIY forum there's a post on not rotating the engine, and rotating it to get them off.

Also I'd suggest looking into Ceramic coating over pwodercoating. It's more durable, will deflect a good amount more heat, and imo looks great. Bought mine from ASB and love them.

Is the 1125 the same as the xb removal?

Ah didn't realize this was int eh 1125 section. I'm going to go with no since it's an entirely different beast.

Well, I did change out my O2 sensors for wideband units and they were a pain. It could probably be done, but I'm not tackling it. Next time I gotta do the valves, the frame is coming off.

you can get the rear header off without rotating the engine, it took me a good few hours, you will have to remove swingarm etc

Ahh. Did you have to hoist the bike up, or what? I have a rear stand, but it uses the dang swingarm spools. Ideas?

i hung the rear end from the rafters in my garage
i'll be doing it again in a few weeks too

I suggest having them Ceramic Coated, not powder coated.
