headlight recall question

Are recalls time limited? Or can I still have mine replaced? Their the originals on my 04 xb12r and don't do **** for lighting up anything...and I ride in the dark to work...hour one way

Was there ever an official recall? Either way,I wouldn't count on getting the lights replaced free of charge.
You can get a new one from Americansportbike if you got a spare $100 laying around.
If you're cheap/poor you can pull the housing apart and 'glue' pieces of aluminum foil (shiny side out) to the inside of the housing with some rtv silicone (just smear a little on the back of the foil and stick it in place) and it will make a HUGE difference for practically no cash. The foil and the silicone will have no problem with the heat from the bulb.

Ok thanks. I want to go with an hid kit from ddm tuning....but not sure it would help if the inside has crapped out of the housing. Seems like finding replacement housings is next to impossible

Speaking of the hid kit....do I need the optional hid harness? And h3 bulbs correct? 04 firebolt.

There are multiple sets on ebay.

All you need is the h3 kit no extra stuff.

If the reflective coating is shot, which it most likely is, you really need to deal with that before wasting any time/money on brighter bulbs.

FYI - there was a voluntary recall and it ended December-ish 2010.

my 04xb12r was on the recall list for headlights. i was going to drop the $100+ at the hd dealer for them. the dealer was able to find them at another dealership. since dealership 2 got them for hd for free, due to recall, dealership 1 pass off the savings to me and i got the replacement parts for free. this was eariler this year when i did this. you never now you may get lucky.

Thanks. Worth a shot. Just ordered a set of 55w 8000k hids from ddm tuning. Can't wait to get em in there. Will check my local dealer asap and see if I get lucky
