Need a little help with 2 things... first, wheres the ground for the headlights? I have looked through the manual and its just frustrating me to even try and find

2nd, I am trying to test my stator but not sure which plug it is.. can anyone verify if its the grey or black plug behind the front belt sprocket cover??

Thanks

Head light grounds should be lower front of triple trees. May have to remove fender to access.

juggernaut: don't trust the color. the stator plug is the large square plug connected to wiring loom that runs back to area behind pulley cover from FRONT of motor. it contains 3 wires and is bundled in large wire cover and if your bike has not been monkeyed with....will be wire tied from factory to oil line running up to oil pump. that is sure-fire method to identify correct plug. your post title is "headlights burning out". if that is the case test the stator. you want something in the vicinity of 57-52 volts AC....not DC.....AC at 2500rpm. hope that helps.

While you've got the multi-meter out, check your Voltage Regulator output. As they go bad, they often start letting excessive voltage through, and start blowing bulbs like you describe. If you read more than 15v, you've found your problem.

Checked the battery voltage while running.. rev'd the hell outta it and didnt get above 14.8 if i remember right, will recheck stator when i get time... thanks guys
