Hey everyone, Need some advice please.

Last 2 weeks I have been reading every post , every forum, every piece of information I can possibly take in , now I dont know what to do.... lol

04 buell xb12r 985 miles ... All stock few minor aftermarket parts on it, was a previous race bike for the owner of this harley dealership by me .

What is the first thing I need to do this ? Change the ecm? Runs cooler right ? I dont know , my mind is a blob of information, just looking to do basic mods on it , nothing extreme .. Any and all help is much appreciated .. thank you very much , stay safe .

welcome to the forum.if it was a race bike it should have the proper tune for the parts it has.are you having any problems?post some pics

tried posting pics , but sat here for the last half hour trying to upload .

Thank you for the welcome !

As far as the proper, tuning , all the race parts , exhaust, fairing kit, ecm was taken off and factory was put back on , steer damper and upgraded brakes and a few other things were left on.

This Bike was built and serviced by this dealership for the race period and modified 50% back to factory before they sold it .

So with that said, I have a clean slate, there is no for race use only parts left on the bike .

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the forum! Follow posts by members like RT Performance, puzzled, xl_cheese, and anrkizm; they are pretty knowledgable and will help you out. Most members on this forum are helpful. Take criticism with a grain of salt.

Yeah, it should pretty well be tuned already, like anrkizm said. The basic mods are typically breather re-route, air box delete, K&N air filter, LED signals and brake, HID head lamps, dual headlight mod, tail chop/fender eliminator, and that pretty well covers most of the basics I think. Being a race bike, it may already have some of these, like an EBR ECM.

Here's a few links to some DIY mods that may help:

Hey mjp5318,

I had the opportunity to purchase a 2004 XB12R that belonged to the owner Patriot HD. It had been converted to chain drive, had to Buell race exhaust, race ecm, race air filter and a host of other goodies. The bike had been out at Summit Point a few time and was still tagged for the street. It had under 1000 miles on it. I could have purchased that bike for $5K. I did not like the riding position. So purchased a 2004 XB12S. Good luck with the bike keep us posted.

Hey Gater,

Thanks for the response back .. Would you belive , I questioned the owner of this harley dealership and he was telling me and no Im not convinced nor was I from the start that it is illegal for him to sell the mods on the bike that he had on the bike ???? Possible , maybe , but at the same time he did leave a lot of aftermarket parts on the bike like the pirelli tires for cornering , etc etc etc , he used to take the bike to the audubon race track and a couple other places, pictures of him all over his store so I know he isnt lying. I bought the bike for 5400k is it worth it ? Yea the bike Hd Black and orange from the windshield to the rims so its pretty cool , As soon as this site takes the pics I will be more then happy to share , but

any one with any advice or tips or tricks or anything please , lol I really do love to keep it all up to date .

Welcome. The race ECM and the race pipe (they tend to go hand in hand) are not intended for street use (noise, emissions, etc). So perhaps the thought was that if you were going to register it on the street with those parts, he felt he could be liable.

Either that or he felt he could get more packaging the ecm, the race pipe, a serviceable K&N together. The other stuff sometimes is too much of a pain to undo for the trouble or taking all the parts off and putting all stock back on (if he kept them) a bike you're not going to ride anymore. Especially of they don't fit other bikes and it adds to the appeal for a buyer.

welcome to the BuellXB.com forum and to the BUELL Family ![up][up] congrats on the bike . and to upload any pics they have be no bigger than 2MB, so you may need to resize them . as for taker a long time do you have highspeed broadband or dailup internet , or too large of a pic or other things uploading or downloading or maybe an automatic update going on at that time too.

when you can show some pics and we can help figure out what all it still has , the firebolts have the ECM behind the front fairing on headlight bracket.
