High AFV

2001 x1, new intake gaskets, new o2 sensor, tps reset, afv reset to 100.

The bike was running poor and would not idle after sitting outside for awhile. emcspy did not show any error codes.The only value that seem out of range was the AFV at 150. I reset it replaced the o2 sensor, replaced all intake seals and went for a ride. the bike seemed to run better the longer i rode it but not 100 percent. Blue smoke could be seen on decel. returned home and check the values again. AFV back at 150.

Any guidance on what would cause this.

I can't help much on the AFV as I'm a newbie to ECMSPY too but blue smoke sounds like its burning oil which is never a good thing. Might have other problems than just the idle/AFV.

the temp sensor appears to be reading correct. Low temp before running and much higher after a trip. From what i've read there isnt a way to test them and that cause all kinds of trouble when they go bad. I will probally replace it and see what happens.

its running lean or thinks its running lean, you might have a poor connection/break on the lambda wire, if its burning oil, is the lambda getting fouled up .

Running lean, re check the intake seals, injector seals, injector stuck closed, fuel filter blocked, low fuel pressure and check your pump and injector wiring very carefully.
Are both plugs the same color as the ecm only adjusts fuel when it sees a problem in the rear cylinder

O2 sensor or its connections: check for corrosion and check the values in ECMSpy while motor running. If there are peaks in the values change the sensor, take a bosch

if this does not turn out to be sucessfull u might have a problems with the piston rings but this is a real worse case szenario (I had this and it cost a fortune).

For some reason I'm thinking blue smoke means it's a heavy Gasoline vapor. I may be thinking backward though....

I figured if you're burning oil then you would be adding oil quite often.

Black smoke is fuel. But I always judge by smell oil or gas in a cloud often close to the same color.

Has anyone tried to do a leak down test on a motorcycle engine? That is what I would do. I am, however, not sure exactly how you would go about getting the piston at TDC. It's easy in a car. I just hook up the hose for my tester and turn the engine over by hand until it just stops blowing air. That usually gets it close enough.

Finding TDC is not super important if you can some how keep the motor from turning over when you apply air pressure. Maybe in gear and on the brakes or something. Or maybe just use a lower pressure, say 20 psi.

lift the year wheel and turn the engine by hand just put in a high gear. Ecm Spy will tell when crank sensor read tdc i think it on the diagnostics tab the big numbers i think 0 tdc comp. (im perdy sure)
