High warm idle

New owner. Cold idle is fine but when hot goes to about 2000. Can bring it down by running engine to clutch at stoplite once I do that idle is better 1200 or so. Where do I start and with what books?

year of your XB would help. if 08 and later the ecm controls the cold and warm idle speed. if 03-07 idle speed controlled by thumb screw on left inner frame area by cooling scoop. if 03-07 an improperly adjusted warm idle can lead to hanging high idle rpm.

sorry about that ... it is a 2004 xb12R. so I will check the warm idle adjustment

get it warm and connect to ecmspy and reset tps. Set idle. The same happened to me on my 03 xb. cured it. No ecmspy? Do as the lunatic says.
