hot air box

My wife has a small complaint about the air box being too hot. She wears gloves while riding as a passenger and says its too hot then. I agree that it is quite hot on my legs as well. anyone have any mods that they have done to reduce the heat coming from that area? possibly something on the inside of the air box area. air box holes are already cut.

A RSS should keep heat from the motor raising up that high and Special O.P.S. makes a heat shield/blanket that you can put under the air box and under your seat.

mipstien: not saying it is for everybody but i wrapped my headers and installed right side uly inner and outer scoop still available from ASB and local H-D dealer. both those things helped immensely with heat relief.

I'll be honest the only time I have really noticed it is after a ride and say i stop for 30 minutes to eat then get back on. Then I feel it roasting. Particularly in the frame but the box is really too hot for her on the back. I want to get some ceramic coated headers and i will probably wrap mine because someone before me apparently had cut and welded the front header for some reason. I wish I knew why.

I don't understand how the passenger is able to feel heat from the air box....?

Easy solution though, do what I did.... take the passenger foot peg brackets off and tell her they're broken and you don't know how to fix them [up]

lol well I don't have that issue, my wife would never go hunting(nor would I).

And surprisingly she really has no desire to ride. She likes riding on the back but only for short trips. It gets very uncomfortable fast for both of us. I'd be a nervous wreck if she was on a bike anyway. I wonder if she feels that way about me riding... lol.

She feels the heat because that is where she puts her hands when riding on the back instead of hanging on to me. Makes the ride much more comfortable for the both of us.
It is hot on my legs.as well so with or without a passenger I want to reduce the heat.
We are working on getting her a bike too.
