Not a motorcycle thread, but there are some smart fools on this forum. We can agree if tere were a muscle motorcycle it would be a Buell, so kinda related.

Ive been building a 79 camaro (in cali) with a 327ci steel crank, 8.2:1 comp, tuned port injection (MAF) vortech super charger (8psi currently) 700r4 trans and done my tuning through tuner pro. Problem is almost done with engine but gotta make it emissions legal (poooo) i really just wanted to share my build with ya guys, input is apprciated post pictures in a few

I had a 79RS with a 327 swapped in back in HS. Way too much car for a 17yo kid...LOL

Nice! I got a 79' Trans Am. Do you plan on dyno tuning it? That's too bad about the emissions test, in Indiana you can skip it if your car has a historical plate.

That engine looks tired, what happened to the AC lines, you got wires all over the place, idler pulleys are on there way out, you have a ton of work to do, dont take that the wrong way just take a good look at it i worked at a dodge dealer turning wrenches for 20 years if i poped the hood i would think W.T.F. do we have here.Just my humble opinion...don't be mad please.......

not mad at all, that engine bay pic is all i had while at work. its about a year old with my own make shift harness. since then gone painless. you can tell my engines tired?! and the A/C has been gutted. im just too cheap to buy an idler to take the compressor out. also the idler pulleys on their way out? like i said thats n old pic, also never cared much for looking pretty inside or out, so some stock valve covers and spray on paint work fine for me. you can waste all that money on your chrome holly and edelbrock crap. take a page from eric, youre never done working on a project, take a step back to go 2 steps forward.

Thank you i'm sure your car will turn out great.. Dont forget all the new front end parts you will need, mark my words...:D

Such as? Idler, pitman, tie-rods? Springs bushings and ball joints? They are new enough. Been down that road, or you mean bad ass inter-cooler right where the grill should be?

Im curious still about your visual accessment of my engine (broken in with a carb 2500 miles ago) and idler pulleys? Im not so novice grandpa, UTI graduate, and wrenching last 7 years doing more than oil changes. But i dont know everything the reason i share my project so when i come upon something unknown i can calaborate with like minded and expirenced fools.

Cool project! I love camaro's because they never had a bad body style.

I gotta agree with tyler though....these pictures look like the before, not the after. JMO.

What power will the 327 make with the supercharger? ~400-450hp?

Thanks snrusnak! Im not sure what kinda numbers ill see at only 8psi. The low comp:ratio was chosen for much higher poost numbers 15-18psi but until i can get away from emissions and an intercooler wont happen. Prob around 400bhp to the wheels eh who cares?

And tyler my bad i did kinda jump your ****, the car is a long way and tons of work out, but is well beyond what the picture showed, ill see about getting some updated pictures maybe a video around friday. Motivated me to get back on it!
