I have a firebolt 12r with some mods. I wanted to turn it into a track bike but i don't have the time for track days but i am able to ride with the fellas every weekend but after an hour or so I am fatigued. I love the buells so I am thinking about trading for a lightning. How different is the riding position and how comfy are they for a 4 hr ride? I have seen them on the track so I think that I could get the best of both worlds if I trade. Thanks Buellers!

switch out the foot pegs, handle bars and your seat and you are there for only a cupple hundred bucks! but to answer your question the lightning is much more confortable.

a few posts like these passed, but i can't seem to find them...

you'll be able to manage a 4hr ride with an xbs without any problems.
the longest ride i did was 11hrs and after a 10min rest, my butt was ok to ride again.
with a corbin seat, you'll get even more comfort.

no more pain in wrists, shoulders, neck, etc.

How comfortable is the lightning?
To who (or is it whom?) ?

Comfort is another one of those relative things that we all like to act are subjective...

Which Lightning is the fastest - The Hero Blue or the Kick Ash?

I think the Lightning is comfortable - at first.
I dont happen to like the seating position much anymore and prefer a more forward leaning posture.

However the seat is cushy and comfy and I dont have any complaints in that area...

I agree with speedkills, comfort is definitely relative. Some people like hard beds, some like soft. I have an XBS and it was really comfortable riding around town with stock bars, but when on the highway for a while or riding canyons I find it uncomfortable. So I switched out my bars to the Firebolt set-up as well as my pegs and I like the cornering and highway riding much better. It is definitely an issue of personal preference and riding style.

Thanks guys! I sat on one at the dealership and I think it is what I am looking for. But if i wanted to change out the footpegs what do you recommend? I guess i could go to my dealership and pick their brain. Would i just get handlebar risers or switch out the bars all together? Have a blessed day!

Hey Pete, on a Firebolt you would have to change the top triple to one from an XBS in order to clamp down bars. You would also need the lights, modules and brackets. So you would end up having a Lightning front end, and that could get pretty pricey. You could always fabricate or buy cafe style fork tube brackets or find some aftermarket lighting that's XB specific.[smirk]

Sorry Pete I forgot about pegs. Your options are stick with the straight style like your stock, get the one inch drop Lightning style or go all out rear-sets, which cost $LOOT$. I like the LSL billet factory replacements, not too expensive and look great in my opinion.:D
