Hey guys,

I was just wondering, for those of you who have gone down, how long did it take for you to get back in the saddle?

Yeah, like 8 seconds. Its crazy how fast you can pick a bike up with adrenalin pumping. Felt like picking a pillow up off the ground.

First time, about a month and a half while I waited on parts. Could have rode right after except I dinged the bike pretty good. Was about a 30mph lowside on an on ramp.

Second time, it's been about a week and a half so far. Still waiting on parts to come in. Could have rode right after, but after the adrenalin wore off I realized I messed my shoulder good on the landing, had to get help lifting it.

Lessons learned:
Always wear gear.
Invest in gear with padding in it.
When you decide last minute to turn, look for gravel before executing it.

Honestly can't stress wearing gear enough. Will mean the difference between hospital time even at as low a speed as 5mph.

Around 11 months but I had different circumstances. My brain said get up and go home, my back and the rest of my body said no dice. ATGATT if I wasn't wearing gear it would have been way worse. They asked me how did I live when I was able to respond.

MY ACCIDENT

3 weeks before my broken foot was healed well enough to be able to shift. Now, 5 weeks after going down, it still hurts to shift, but **** it.

Took me 7 months to get over my first crash. I got to ride for 15 mins and second crash hit. Only took 3 months to heal from that one.

When i went down i picked my bike up (im 130 lbs) like it was nothing. rode it home, stripped it of all broken parts and went to town. Alot of members on this site helped me get back in the saddle, it was rebuilt and running like a champ in a little less than a week. The bruises lasted a little longer tho...

First crash: about 6 months before physio would let me, and the shop was ready with the bike, and the snow was gone.

Second crash: somebody helped me pick up the bike and left, tried to call CAA but I was in a dead zone and cell didn't work, found the clutch lever in the grass and made it work. Rode home 45 mins with a broken rib. Wait for parts, they came same time as snow so spring.

Moral: both accidents happened at 2°C. Tires are not supposed to be used below 14°C. I don't go out below 10°C anymore.
