I am interested in buying a Buy XB9 or XB12 and love the looks and sound.

My question is: How many miles is to many, when looking for a used Buell. How long are the engines good for, with "Good" maintenance.

The one I am looking at is a 2007 XB12s with 8,200 miles. Going for 6595$.....

your thoughts? ty

Welcome to the forum bry777. In my opinion, 8k miles is a good number, sounds like they've just broke in the bike beyond the 5k maintenance/tuneup mark. $6595 isn't a bad price either.

Buells do well for the long haul if they are well kept, meaning 20k miles. They're Harley v-twin engines.

Definitely a good buy especially if it has some mods already done to it [up]

I have an 06 with 9500 miles and owe more than that on it yet. Mostly because of a stupid decision on a trade but .. I would take it :)

I like to hear of these bikes with higher miles- confirms that I made a good decision- assuming that there hasn’t been any major repairs done :D

aww man sorry to mislead, I just got the bike a month ago from Florida where I assume it was a daily driver. I've put about 3-400 on it so far.

Very sun-baked, so I'm putting some money into a new seat, controls, etc but running strong and the body plastics look great still.

I personally don't think it's crazy to expect high mileage out of any quality machine with proper service. Then again, I come from a Volvo/Subaru enthusiast family.

Wait a minute, you've bought the bike with 36,000 miles on it? How much did you buy it for? If you don't mind me for asking of course.

onelogue, you'll have to definitely take some You Tube footage of that one my friend

What the car starting on one turn in the cold or my bike when it reaches 180,000 miles?? lol I assure you I don't plan on running my bike for that long (meaning I will upgrade to a newer Buell of course) ;):D

When your bike reaches 180k, that would be something worth seeing. But hopefully by then we'll all have new toys :D

lol no kidding! My back probably wouldn't last that long anyways!
Just did a three hour drive and my back is killing me! But o well I'm in love with my Buell. Just gotta get one of those pillow seats [smirk]

Onelogue,

When I started cycling (bicycle) on a road bicycle my back would hurt after 20mins, now I can ride for hours (6+) without my back hurting. The key is working your core. Do core training and your back issues will pretty much disappear.

$3500
It had the race kit and some other extras, I dunno I'm the type of guy to get the most for my money by buying quality stuff used. If I spent 3500 on a new bike, what could I have gotten you know? And quality stuff is always nicer to service and repair.

My 08 xb12scg just clicked over 17,000 miles and its not even a year old yet. From what Ive read these should go to 50-100k until a major overhaul (rebuild)

And to add, I am not easy on my engine at all(bike sees 100mph 7,300rpm's every day), Ive never had a mechanical engine problem, just some electrical stuff. After 17k miles of that, I am more than sold on Buell's reliability.
