How should I jack the bike up?

I have to remove my fuel pump so i need to take the rear swing arm assembly off. should i just take the muffler off and prop the bike up by setting something under the engine?

The xb mufflers have 2 hard points for jacking. they should be marked. I used to just use a regular bike jack to lift mine up... just use some straps to hold it down.

You don't have to remove the swing arm. Unbolt the bottom of the shock, and remove belt tensioner. Then you can 'drop' the swing arm out of the way. I may have some pics.

I have seen people hang their bike from the ceiling in the garage with rachet straps and drop the swingarm.
