nice location Pockets! [smirk]

my question is (because i have not seen one there before)
is that canister behind your oil cooler the CA EVAP charcoal canister, or ?? man what ever it may be it looks very out of place in that spot , I would move it somewhere else , it kind of makes it look cluttered and odd and kind makes it look homemade (not the good kind) and you need a catch can or you might leak all over your buell, other than that the BUELL looks great ...( the ca evap charcoal canister on the firebolts are behind the battery)

Question for you guys...

I went for a ride today and while at a red light I noticed some small puffs of smoke coming out of my breather (mounted near the oil cooler). Is this normal? Have you guys witnessed this before? Anything to worry about?

50dro ... your bike could be over heating or just getting really hot while stop lights.. it is probably the oil on/in the inside of the rockerbox starting to smoke from getting to hot , getting really hot and starting to smoking, and maybe the oil is not flow back down in oil passages, or worse it oil overheating and smoking from down in your crankcase , making it way up throught the crankcase breahter system passages.
could also be (best bet and hope thats all it is) or could be oil on or in PCV valve or oil mist(vapor) in the the system or in the hoses getting hot and smoking or /burning ..

2nastyb8.. if kinked shut than cut the zip tie on it and ajust it to where it is not kinked shut , if it is kninked shut it could just cause some excess pressure in transmission and may try to push out somewhere else(possible to push very small amout out hose if lots of pressure but not likely there is only 1 quart oil in there its not filled to the top), it also helps vent a little heat out of the transmission too.

Thanks native...This is the first time I've noticed it. I'll keep an eye out for it and investigate further if need be.

I went to the store today looking for a T fitting, and I actually found one! Also, Bike Bandit had the filter I was wanting. I am currently venting to the ground, but I should have this done soon.

i really like the catch can from ASB but not the $130 price tag, thats way to much,( i could make one simialar for under$50) also not a fan of seeing the breather filter(except they one that was all black with 3 filter holes in top that kinda cool looking)especailly when it looks out of place or completely different color than the bike.(sorry)i know most is still just a work in progress

thats why mine is all hidden except for the catch can and it is black with see-thru letting that says BUELL.
so it blends in and looks like it belongs there, it's also in different spot from any i have seen. see my previuos post in this thread or my profile.

Native- Yeah, that's the CA charcoal canister. I just picked up caps for the vaccume lines to the canister so deletion will be soon! Ugly as hell. I'll be installing a petcock at the end of of the drain line so it won't drip on anything. I did have a NOS Powershot bottle, but it didn't fit back there.

the charcoal canister on the side of the engine , really defeats the purpose of a naked bike you cant see all the beautifull engine , it hides way to much.

For those who want a black filter...it's easy with some time and Scotch Brite...

I used spray on bed liner same as my subframe and tail chop. Matches the frame perfectly!

Great post up!!!!

I just finished putting my new oil lines in, open airbox via threaded rods. Now trying to do this!!

Went to Lowe's, they had no 3/8 clamp hoses. But I guess I could use a close size. Went to advanced auto, they kept asking what car application it was for. I kept saying it was custom thing and they wanted part number! Gonna try pep boys.

Already got Vacuum-Ts and 3/8 Napa hose.

Now off to Home Depot/Lowes again for hose clamps and "air-oil seperator" for the catchcan.

Thanks all!

I hate when the auto parts store does that. " What kind of vehicle is it for?" Does it matter, if you had a brain and was listing to what I said you would know was specific part I was looking for. But no they have to stare at thier computer screen and scratch their head. DO you or do you not have the part? Rant over.

it took me 5 trips to the parts store to get the 3/8" drain cock or whatever the f that thing is. ended up seeing one myself behind the counter.

Yellow50- I hear that! Do you have hose clamps? Yes or no? Ok where are they? Thank you.
