I have a voodoo exhaust and the intake mod. My 2009 Firebolt is backfireing a lot more then normal. Will the race ECM add HP? What effects will I notice with a new Race ECM instead of the stock ECM?

It should clean up the backfireing or at leat reduce it. It will tune it ensuring better A/F ratio, not sure about adding HP but allowing your aftermarket parts to work to there capacity ultimately provide more fuel, air equaling more power. The ECM on new Buell's from what I read learns but can only adjust for minor changes such as an open air box conversion only and not a combination.

I am new and learning also, any correct me if I am wrong.

You'll probably want the drummer version of the race ecm. I had the standard ebr race ecm when I had my d&d on and they did not get along very well. I have a spec ops on now and from the research I've done it sounds like the drummer version is the way to go for exhausts like the voodoo, spec ops, hawk, and drummer.

As far as more hp, my butt dyno says there is a noticable increase, throttle response is quicker, and fuel efficiency is better. I would still get some decel backfiring, but nothing too bad (but it wasn't bad for me with the stock ecm either). Overall I really like the results with the race ecm, just sucked how it wouldn't get along with the d&d...

Thx Miami...I have a hawk and dyno says its running almost dangerously lean so didn't know which ecm would be the best...don't wanna jack the thread but anyone else get an ecm with hawk exhaust?

Hopefully I'll have a more accurate comparison soon, I'm still in the process of sending my ebr ecm back to swap for the drummer version...I'll report back once I get it and actually see how it runs.
