Well, I ended up buying the second Firebolt I mentioned in a previous post. The first thing you will notice is that it's been repainted. No, it has not been in any accidents nor even gently laid down. I went over it very carefully. It was obviously very well taken care of. I am now the third owner. The guy I bought it from looked really sad when I was getting ready to ride away, but he was really cool and seemed very trustworthy. He wouldn't negotiate the price but it was worth it. It has a new battery. He just changed the oil and the tranny fluid. He also gave me a factory manual.
My initial impressions: THIS IS A FUN FUN FUN BIKE! It is completely different from my Ninja. It really shakes at idle - just like a Harley - LOL! It is pretty loud!!! I think it has an aftermarket muffler... I love it - more on that later. It's hot compared to the Ninja. The power is really smooth and a bit more than the Ninja. The riding position is much more aggressive - but that suits the bike well. The guy let me test ride it without any cash in his hand - I was surprised but I hopped right on it. I was a bit nervous because I had never ridden anything like it before. Twenty minutes later - deal done - I'm rolling down the freeway 80 miles an hour (which is normal speed in California) marveled by how stable the bike was at that speed - a bit more than the Ninja. Anyway, I will post more pics in the future and ask a few questions, too, no doubt. I think there's some aftermarket stuff on it, but that's a topic for future posts!
