I went riding this weekend with the guys and had to keep pulling over because I kept getting bugs in my eyes. If I open the sheild just a bit(I like to ride 1/2 open) the wind goed directly into my eyes and the noise sucks too.I have a buell helmet that looked great to me.
Im afraid to buy a new helmet because everyone I bought 3 different hjc's bleffe(when I had money) and a few others all were bad in some way so I would just but another helmet.
now I dont have money to waste, need something cheap,I read alot on here about helmets and they all seem to be about how cool it looks or what loud design was on it. Im a custom painter but I just like a plain black helmet.
I dont have or know about blue tooth stuff or listen to anything but the motor when I ride.I just want something confy, that directs the wind and doesnt want to rip your head off at high speeds or when you turn you head.hopefully something under $200.
I wish bike stores had demo helmets because what looks good on the shelf and fits good in the store usually sucks when you ride with it.

look at helmetharbor.com look at thw scorpion line they are great helmets and the lower line is pretty decent price

That's the exact reason I quit riding with my Buell helmet. Many of the stores will let you take a short ride with them to tryout.

The new Shoei Qwest is looking pretty good. Going to try one out today and check fit on my huge head. :D

Retails @ $370 and I'm finding online about $330

I picked up a Scorpion EXO 400 at the beginning of the season. Prior to this I never wore a helmet on the street. (I used to ride a cruiser) Can't say that I have any complaints about the Scorpion, it was inexpensive, (I hate using the word cheap when it comes to gear) they run small but it's really comfortable.

Also check out zoxoutlet.com I have one of their helmets and love it. Plus they stock all the parts to fix them if something breaks and they are customizable and up-gradable. Look at my pics and you can see the one I got. They have solid colors and graphics too.

I just picked up an HJC FS-15 Carbon Fiber on Clearance for $200 .. They were $450 when they came out last year .. It is super light and very quiet ... This is the 4th helmet I have bought and I love it ...

I got red to match my Cherry Bomb .. but you can also find it in black, gray, blue and copper ...

I bought two of the same helmets off of ebay in new condition during a clearance sale for 180 each shipped to the front door. They are very light and comfortable as well as a perfect match agains my orange translucent plastics. I bought copper

I have the copper Joe Rocket version.

Dosen't weigh abything at all compared to my last helmet, but a touch noisy for me. It needs a chin curtain, but flows air like none other. If all the vents are open, there is a breeze in the helmet. Great for hot weather.

This is the helmet that's one step up from the IS16 buddha posted, on sale for $89. I just bought one and am pretty pleased. The helmet I used before this one was a $5-600 arai and I've gotta say all helmets have their problems. The arai is super comfortable but it has a ton of wind noise. Wind noise isn't AS bad on the hjc but the left side of the screen whistles a bit at 40mph and above. The arai is amazingly comfortable and I love the friction windshield, I hate how the HJC has 3 set positions it opens to, the lowest of which puts the bottom of the visor right in your line of sight, pretty worthless. I think I'm going to take my dremel and pick a new spot. Either way, I think the only real answer is to find some good ear plugs because I've spent $100 on a helmet and I've spent $500 on a helmet, and either way you're still gonna have to listen to 60mph wind blowing at your head.

If your going to ride with the shield open, your going to need some other type of eye protection.
Either a touring shield or glasses in the lid.
